Job Summary

In this role, the incumbent will ensure that all approved projects, improvements, and new investments in machinery, equipment, and buildings are executed in accordance with quality standards, cost-efficiency, and timelines. Changes to machines and processes at the Stolberg plant will be carried out in accordance with specifications and quality requirements. Additionally, production machinery and processes will be optimized to ensure constant readiness for quality-conscious, cost-efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • As the local Subject Matter Expert (SME) for injection molding machines, tools, and processes, the responsibilities include planning and overseeing projects related to inspection, maintenance, and repair measures using internal or external resources. The creation of documentation for existing, modified, and planned facilities throughout their entire lifecycle is also required. There is a strong emphasis on improving and optimizing processes and machinery to reduce downtime. Initiating modifications and overhauls of machines/equipment for standardization and adaptation to new human, technical, and qualitative requirements is part of this role.

    You are jointly responsible for the maintenance, care, and usability of buildings, as well as creating documents for machines, equipment, and buildings. Ensuring compliance with legal and internal regulations related to occupational health and safety, environmental protection, and security within the work environment or area of responsibility is imperative. This role also includes participating in the creation and monitoring of planned budgets for the area of responsibility, repairs, and investments, and preparing cost plans for machinery and operational maintenance. Organizing and conducting employee training, moderating, and supporting Lean teams are also responsibilities.

    Additionally, you are responsible for the adherence to and maintenance of DIN ISO 15378 and cGMP guidelines within the area of responsibility. Timely, complete, and truthful preparation of reports, analyses, evaluations, planning, and overviews according to the instructions of the superior and management, as well as in the context of and to support the regular budget, review, and planning processes at West, are essential.

    Support in implementing Six Sigma strategies, assisting other functions at the plant, and ensuring data protection in accordance with legal requirements are key aspects as well. Confidential documents and information must be protected from unauthorized access. The incumbent must ensure that confidential information, documents, and knowledge are not shared with third parties without permission; thus, knowledge of internal regulations is fundamental.

    The responsibility also covers ensuring compliance with and maintenance of DIN ISO 9001, DIN ISO 15378, ISO 50001, and cGMP guidelines within the area of responsibility.

  • Real-time, complete, and truthful preparation of reports, analyses, evaluations, plans, and overviews as per the instructions of the supervisor and management, as well as within the framework and to support the regularly occurring budget, review, and planning processes at West.
  • Support in implementing Six Sigma strategies.
  • Support for other functions in the plant.
  • Organization and implementation of employee training.
  • Moderation and support of lean teams.
  • Timely, complete, and truthful preparation of reports, analyses, evaluations, plans, and overviews as per the instructions of the supervisor and management, as well as within the framework and to support the regularly occurring budget, review, and planning processes at West.
  • Support in implementing Six Sigma strategies.
  • Support for other functions in the plant.

Education

  • Completed (technical) university degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar position within the manufacturing industry required and
  • Experience in Project management preferred

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good knowledge of LEAN and 6 sigma manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of statistical tools and Minitab
  • cGMP knowledge
  • Able to be aware of all relevant standard operating procedures as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Support and contribute to Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target
  • Able to comply with the company's safety and quality policies at all times
