Job Summary:
As the Principal, Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading/supporting new product development and technology initiatives in the Advanced Technology and Design Global Engineering Team. This role will provide Mechanical Engineering support, with a higher level of skills, to a multidisciplinary team of Mechanical, Biomedical, and System Engineers in collaboration with Hardware, Firmware, and Industrial Engineers. The team conducts research and support imagination of new and innovative conceptual products by modeling, designing, specifying, integrating, electrical/mechanical components into system-level designs. The individual will bring knowledge of best practices in his/her area of expertise to assure organizational and Team objectives are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides mechanical engineering support to a global team of multidisciplinary engineers to develop multiple new product concepts with committed timelines and project goals per established governance policies, best practice, and guidelines.
- Functions as the Principal Mechanical Engineer of the Project Team
- Leads projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager
- Generates 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of product concepts
- Prepares and presents detailed technical presentations, reports and design documentation as required.
- Develops and mentors Mechanical Engineering Team Members by providing necessary guidance, identifying necessary training, and providing professional development activities to build competence and depth
- Negotiates and collaborates with Senior Management and other key stakeholders to influence and drive decision making.
- Applies strong analytical skills to identify and understand customer/user needs, market requirements, technical requirements, human factors need, and translation to the finished design output.
- Applies engineering principles to guide the design team and provide solution of mechanical problems.
- Generate intellectual property referenced to the mechanical design
- Promote an environment that balances the necessary GMP compliance with the flexibility required for rapid new product development.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s and or master’s degree with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience
- This position requires a highly organized person who is articulate and personable, provides leadership to others on the team, acts as a resource for other team members, has in-depth knowledge and experience in medical device development, and demonstrates initiative and commitment to quality in all tasks.

- Proficient with Solid works, FEA Software, Microsoft Office suite software
- Knowledge of Parametric Modeling, GD&T, Tolerance Analysis, Solid Works experience preferred
- Knowledge of Six Sigma DFSS Techniques
- Knowledge of Mathcad, LabView, or other Modeling Tools and experience
- Knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA and other Risk Management Tools
- Knowledge of DOE, Statistical Analysis, Minitab experience preferred
- Able to be aware of all relevant standard operating procedures as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description

Travel Requirements:
- Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
Physical and Mental Requirements:
