Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage & provide sound engineering support with hands on expertise & practices in projects from conception through production.  Interact with engineering, management, site & corporate team members &/or vendors to develop engineering specifications for new equipment or required process improvements; produce, modify, & maintain drawings; maintain project timelines; continuously evaluate projects from the tasks, resource & costs perspective, ensure delivery of the projects on time & within budget; & actively install, start-up, & validate equipment or tooling.
  • Develop & implement equipment, practices & procedures to improve manufacturing processes to assure profitability, quality & safety of West products & team members.
  • Develop URS’s, purchase, install injection molding machines and ancillaries as needed based on production demands.
  • Write bills of material, work orders, purchase requisitions, capital expenditure requests etc. as required.
  • Manage and coordinate plant and capital projects, properly document work utilizing engineering forms, create project timelines and maintain history of projects in appropriate project files.
  • Research and analyze data such a vendor design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Direct and coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Coordinate and/or perform all necessary validations and/or process engineering evaluations as needed for injection molding machines and ancillaries. Support process improvements, cost reductions, COPQ reductions, etc. through the implementation of LEAN concepts.
  • Actively participate and comply with all West HSE programs and regulations.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work environment in accordance with West 5S program.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or Associate’s in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and a minimum of six years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
    • Extensive experience in industrial maintenance involving mechanical, electrical & electronics types of work (experience in a pharmaceutical environment is a plus).
    • Extensive experience with capital expenditure & project related work.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess good knowledge & have practical experience with computers programs such as MS Office, AutoCAD, MS Project, etc. 
  • Knowledge of PLC controls trouble-shooting and design.
  • High speed / high volume automation design and implementation experience
  • Effective organizational, trouble-shooting, problem solving & interpersonal skills & be able to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Master Control or similar systems and databases, a plus.


Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
