Job Summary:

Responsible for maintaining tool spare parts inventory, TLCM schedule, scissors sharpening, assisting with tool repair schedule, shipping, and receiving of tools and tool validations.  Perform a wide variety of press operation duties including machine setup, adjustments, troubleshooting, line clearing, PMs on tool related problems, repair or remanufacture worn parts and damaged machine parts. Will assist in resolving process related problems when required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tool validations
    • Make mechanical adjustments to the press/die and troubleshoot when required.
    • Verify and adjust parameters i.e.  molding times, mold surface temperatures, gaps, bumps.
    • Prepare and maintain tooling for validation i.e. aqua line, CO2, clean and clear dies/molds.
    • Perform control checks i.e. run samples for capability analysis, on center, visual and diameter analysis.
    • Perform line clearances.
    • Operate die carts and forklifts, install, and set up tooling in presses.
    • Use applicable gaging and inspection equipment.
    • Prioritize tool validation according to production schedule.   
    • Record parameters of press.
    • Complete necessary production and tool validation documents.
    • Verify validation data is accurately recorded.
    • Maintain validation packets accurately.
    • Remove dies from presses, clean and store. 
    • Perform trim check/visual inspections when required.
    • Detect and report operating difficulties and/or specific problems to Tooling Management Team
  • Maintain a tooling schedule i.e. TLCM schedule, update upcoming die rebuilds schedule.
  • Maintain Bulb Vacuum Unloader System i.e. PM’s, drain vacuum lines, unclog when required.
  • Must be able to read blueprint. 
  • Maintain scissors.
  • Destroy tooling per ESOP.
  • Receive and Ship Tooling.
  • Maintain tooling spare parts inventory.
    • Complete necessary records and requisitions for materials/ supplies.
  • Become competent with lathe work, milling, drilling, sawing and arbor press.  Grinding parts as needed.
    • Work from prints, sketches, sample parts and verbal or written instructions
  • Operate power saws, set-up and operate pedestal grinder and operate drill presses.
  • Sharper machining tools.
  • Make mechanical adjustments to the pneumatic Teflon presses.
  • Trouble shoot tooling related problems.
  • Clean machines and toolroom equipment.
  • Demonstrate job communication skills.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Perform safety checks.
  • Use good housekeeping practices to maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Manage, Lead, and perform all duties to promote quality and customer satisfaction.

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of press related experience.
    • 3+ years of experience is preferred.
  • Qualifying scores on mechanical (Bennett), verbal and math comprehension tests. 
  • Some basic computer skills required i.e. using Microsoft applications List any required certifications. 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Able to be aware of all relevant standard operating procedures as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.
  • Support and contribute to Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target.
  • Able to always comply with the company’s safety policy.

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 2% of the time.

 

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs. continuously and up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
