Job Summary:

In this role, you will provide tactical and short-term strategic procurement support to West plant operations, R&D, Engineering, Sales, IT and Quality organizations with a focus on direct/indirect materials, capital expenditures and required services.  In addition, the Procurement Specialist will support the Global Category Managers with data collection and plant implementation of identified global projects.  

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Request and secure competitive RFQ’s/proposals from identified sources and negotiate pricing and final commercial terms.
  • Provide appropriate West Sales team members with material, component, packaging, and logistics pricing in support of new business opportunities and existing programs.
  • Develop strong internal relationships that lead to cross-functional activities that identify cost saving/avoidance, process improvements and risk mitigation opportunities.
  • Work with the supply base and Quality to obtain required regulatory documentation in support of internal or customer requests.
  • Manage supplier metrics and performance to drive continuous improvement and supplier development.
  • Identify and assess risks and benefits of sourcing decisions and present proposals to mitigate risks collaboratively, ensuring sustained product supply and quality compliance.
  • Expected to monitor, interact, and update appropriate systems (ex – SAP) daily
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business or Supply Chain concentration
  • Minimum 3 Years of experience in Supply chain or related functions    

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • ERP Experience (QAD or SAP preferred)
  • Strong Communication Skills (Written & Oral)
  • Work history in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Support and contribute to Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time

 

 

 

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Sedentary - exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to life, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met
  • Ability to understand business requirements and evaluate a supplier’s ability to meet the business needs
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a cross-functional organization
  • Ability to analyze data and utilize the information to take action that resolves issues, mitigates risk or improves the financial situation of West’s business operations.
