Job Summary:

This role will be responsible to carry out the inspection of tooling in line with company procedures, work instructions, control plans, etc. to provide the required tooling documentation, and to support efforts to meet Plant quality, delivery, and cost requirements with minimal guidance


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Setup, program, and operate CNC Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).

• Carry out process and procedural audits.

• Manage and maintain the CMM Room.

• Lead in maintaining the CMM and measuring equipment calibration program in accordance with appropriate standards and schedules.

• Perform 100% dimensional and visual inspection of first-off samples and at appropriate intervals during production runs.

• Perform dimensional and visual inspection of in-process gages.

• Measure and document steel dimensions as required by the customer and retain/maintain complete records.

• Lead in the identification of equipment and/or process documentation gaps.

• Perform visual inspections using optical comparator, test rubber, and vision camera as necessary.

 • Report defects and OOS (Out of Specification) instances to site management and appropriate department leads and identify & quarantine all defective parts for appropriate disposition.

• Maintain compliance with all applicable Corporate, Regional, and Local quality documents/regulations. Review new/updated documents and train/implement as needed.

• Maintain the documentation and analysis of, and assist in determining the validity and disposition of, nonconformance events. Provide CAPA input to appropriate team members.

• Main Liaison with the Bodmin and German Tool Shops to standardize documentation and data collection.

• Main Liaison with Corporate Metrology to develop, compile, certify and transfer all project documentation.

• Liason with Corporate Design Department for change control when necessary.

• Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.

• Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.

• Exhibit regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance.

Health, Safety and Environment:

• Ensure that the company Health, Safety, and Environmental Policies and other safety regulations are upheld throughout the site, reporting any irregularities to your manager.

• Report near miss accidents or incidents at the earliest opportunity using the appropriate documentation.

• Be compliant with any machine instructions, and responsible for the proper use of all equipment assets within the work area.

• Ensure that your work area is always kept clean and tidy.

• Ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.

• Ensure correct use of personal protective equipment.


• Follow and comply with Company Quality Policy and cGMP regulations.

• Accurate recording of documentation and data as required.

• Responsible for defect recognition.

Procedural Adherence:

• Undertake all necessary training and retraining to be able to perform all aspects of the job.

• Adhere to the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Policies. Delivery:

• Ensure that all customer/production delivery deadlines are met. Miscellaneous:

• Carry out other duties as may be required from time to time by your manager

• Provide cover for other roles for which you are trained, as required.

• Undertake continuous improvement using lean sigma tools.

• Report any problems or irregularities which are outside of your control to your manager or other appropriate person.

 Basic Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent


• Familiarity with and experience using manual measuring equipment

• 5+ years of previous inspection experience in programming and using computer-based measuring equipment (CMM)

• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications

• Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this job description

• Flexibility in providing support beyond normal working hours when necessary

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Previous engineering experience

• Formal qualification in engineering or engineering apprenticeship

• Formal qualification in quality control systems and procedures • Experience in conventional toolroom machinery (mills, lathes, etc.)

• Knowledge of SPC

• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques

• Experience with QMS auditing

• Familiarity with rubber compression molds

• Strong time-management and organization skills

• Ability to lead and work independently • Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Travel Requirements:

• Limited travel requirements Physical & Mental Requirements:

• Moderate standing, twisting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and walking. Must be able to work with items weighing up to forty (40) pounds.

• Must maintain the ability to work well with others in a variety of situations.

• Must be able to multi-task, work under time constraints, problem solve and prioritize.

• Self-motivated with the ability to make independent and sound judgments.

• Read and interpret data, information, and documents
