Job Summary:
Oversee manufacture, startup, validation, Injection molding process development of current and new molded components and Equipment. Provides professional level technical services for the solution of manufacturing related processes. Drive continuous improvement, solve processing issues and support production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide sound engineering support with hands on expertise and practices in projects from conception through production.
- Develop Injection Molding Processes for new molded components using scientific molding principles.
- Sustain and improve Injection Molding Processes for new molded components using scientific molding principles.
- Trouble shoot and solve problems of Injection Molding Processes for new and existing molded components using scientific molding principles.
- Interact with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Metrology, and corporate team members and/or vendors to validate, improve or correct Injection molding processes for current and new molded components.
- Provide engineering guidance to assure plant, machinery, and processes are optimized.
- Coordinate and/or perform all necessary validations and/or process engineering evaluations as needed for Injection molding equipment.
- Support process improvements, cost reductions/savings, scrap reductions, etc. through the implementation of LEAN concepts
- Improve processes and procedures to manufacture a quality product at a minimum cost.
- Research and analyze data such a vendor design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of molded components for an application.
- Assist in installation of new Equipment, development of new tooling and related processes; investigate tooling and process problems; make new product/process recommendations.
- Support Engineering projects and Support Product Development as required.
- Hands-on engineering, such as reverse engineering, simple assembly and machining work, component testing and failure analysis.
- Support engineering, quality, planning, scheduling to meet production numbers and on-time delivery.

- Contributes to continuous process improvement efforts to reduce scrap, cycle times, improve efficiency, and eliminate waste.

- Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe workstation and environment at all times.
- Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and safety rules.

- Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Science or Engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience
- Effective problem solving and interpersonal skills
- Processing and Plastic Injection Molding experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Mold Master or equivalent
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with teams and influencing decisions
- Background in medical devices processing qualification and validation.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Yellow Belt
- Familiar CAD/Solidworks
- Regulatory compliance in cGMP manufacturing and testing of Pharmaceutical or Medical Device Products
Travel Requirements:
- Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Medical Device manufacturing requires strict adherence to standards. Working environment is a manufacturing facility, which houses plastic injection molding machines. Must tolerate fumes and particulate generated from various plastics. Work areas are equipped with adequate lighting, cooling/heating and equipment that are in a good working condition. Must work constructively in an environment that may be stressful due to competing resources while at all times maintaining company confidentiality.
- Must be able to work scheduled work week, plus overtime and/or irregular hours as required to complete assignments. May stand or sit for extended periods of time. Must transport oneself to and from other areas of the facility and travel to other divisions when necessary. Must have good visual acuity. If specifically necessitated by customer requirements, must be able to see with or without corrective lenses and distinguish color differences for product and safety issues.
