POSITION SUMMARY:

The Supervisor of Production will be responsible for overseeing manufacturing of high value products at West’s Advanced Development Center (ADC).  The Supervisor of Production will engage in a variety of projects to support clinical trials, registration batches, preliminary product launch, and small commercial volumes.  Additionally, the Supervisor of Production will work closely with the Director of ADC to define necessary capabilities and resources to support the objective of the manufacturing group.  Key responsibilities include managing the technicians critical to manufacturing products for internal and external customers, scheduling the activities within the molding facility to ensure high quality, yet timely delivery of products, and developing capabilities for continuous improvement of the group.  The individual will bring excellent elastomeric manufacturing and processing talent to the Pharmaceutical Processing Group at West.  

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage manufacturing team with skill sets appropriate for early process development, pilot, and scale-up elastomeric manufacturing processes.
  • Prioritize and schedule manufacturing activities within the Advanced Development Center (ADC).
  • Implement process characterization platforms and capabilities in order to effectively support manufacturing of pilot and small commercial volumes and to transfer technologies to operations.
  • Apply project management techniques to develop timelines, deliverables, manage resources, and drive strategic projects to completion within budget and on time.
  • Manage programs that will: (1) transition new technology to plant operations, providing ongoing support to the plants as needed, and (2) small commercial volume programs that will forever be manufactured in the ADC.
  • Provide oversight, direction, and technical support to technicians tasked with executing process characterization, scale-up, and transfer to operations activities.
  • Prepare detailed personnel development plans for manufacturing technicians.
  • Select, specify, and manage the construction of equipment or outside vendors, as appropriate, to implement new technologies or capabilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline is desired but not required.
  • Experience:  A minimum of 10-year experience in process development, design for excellence, and/or transfer to manufacturing.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience of management in the field of engineering or process development.
  • Experience in elastomeric, compression molding is desired but not required.
  • Track record of execution, accountability and strong technical skills.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be self-motivated, have strong attention to detail, ability to work independently and in team settings.
  • Must have strong leadership, planning, and technical skills needed to successfully execute a complex project.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to build effective internal and external relationships
