Job Summary:

The Senior Specialist, Metrology Global Laboratory is responsible for overseeing global site laboratory equipment harmonization and qualification programs. This involves strong collaboration with other functions such as D&T and Quality as well as with West´s Data Integrity Program Lead. In addition, this is supporting all global site laboratories with facility projects such as laboratory renovations, expansions and building of new laboratories. In this function, the job holder will collaborate with the global facility engineering team, local site engineering teams and the local site laboratories team in order to ensure a globally aligned approach and maximized value obtained from those facility projects.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • SME Support and global alignment of
    • Procurement of new Equipment and Technology
    • Annual Installation Qualifications and Calibrations
    • Preventative maintenance
    • Troubleshooting
    • Repairs
    • Lab Instrument asset management and life cycle
  • Collaborate with all functional groups including onsite contractors to ensure Lab timelines and due dates are met
  • Collaborate with other functional groups to maintain, expand and improve Laboratory facilities
  • Drive equipment harmonization process across global laboratories
  • Assist with yearly budget preparation
  • Provide reporting for global Lab instrument CAPEX
  • Author, review and approve controlled instrument documents such as investigations, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
  • Review and approve documents generated in support of instrument quality program
  • Collaborate with vendors/suppliers to ensure equipment needs within global site laboratories are communicated and implemented
  • Assist and participate in audits
  • Keep current with new technologies and cGMP regulations. 
  • Evaluate, implement and manage equipment utilization and capacity system to determine risks and evaluate replacements/upgrades
  • Work with vendors to drive process improvements, timely schedule of deliverables
  • Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Laboratory Science or other related field or equivalent education/experience
  • Experience: 5-8 years of experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in the use, maintenance, and repair on analytical instrumentation 
  • Knowledge of calibration accuracy testing requirements and metrology. 
  • Understanding of regulatory guidelines such as ISO, USP and GMP
  • Experience in SAP ERP systems
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical related field with experience in a laboratory setting 
  • Demonstrated strong project and people management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Experienced user of Master Control Document Management System
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Able to comply with all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Max. of 10% travel required
