Job Summary:

The role will be a key member of the Asia Pacific leadership team and will be the single point of contact for all HR support for the Vice President & General Manager for Emerging Markets and other key stakeholders across the region and in region HQ, influencing culture and shaping workforce practices designed to deliver on business objectives and will be a positive reflection of West corporate values. This role will have responsibility for strategic talent management and building workforce capabilities for the future, partnering with the Asia Pacific and Latin America HR teams. Additionally, this role will have responsibility for all aspects of the tactical HR support in region HQ and provide HR leadership for Korea.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating all workforce initiatives for the growing region of Asia Pacific and Latin America.
  • Leading Human Resources in all subsystems – e.g., Recruitment & Selection, Training & Development, Total Rewards, Labor Relations, etc., – providing guidance and leadership to more effectively deliver added value and drive business results.
  • Acting as trusted-HR partner to the Vice President & General Manager of Emerging Markets and providing advice and counsel to the regional leadership team on workforce-related issues, helping ensure the Asia Pacific & Latin America regions has the workforce in place to deliver against business objectives in a consistent and predictable way; and in a way that is aligned with the corporate values and expectations.
  • Leading the One West Way in navigating the global matrix, as an extended part of the global HR team,  harnessing the broader team and tools, influencing HR initiatives and strategies, driving the HR-related investments/budget and advocating for regional needs.
  • Identifying and nurturing emerging talent in partnership with regional leadership. Building the local talent, accelerating leadership readiness and striving for a more sustainable leadership development model for the region that fosters growth and development and meets the future needs of the region.
  • Driving communications and messaging that helps align the workforce and work with the larger enterprise strategy and helps foster improved connection with the enterprise strategy.
  • Leading best-in-class regional talent management practices that drive a high-performance work culture and deliver more effectively on business needs including talent acquisition, internal movement, global mobility, organizational effectiveness, performance management, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, and transition management.
  • Ensuring effective total rewards program is in place and effectively supports the right business outcomes. Supporting and auditing all payroll process and steps.
  • Developing regional workforce capabilities in partnership with West Learning and Development team. Surveying and monitoring local workforce training needs. Ensuring the execution of development programs.
  • Monitoring and proactively managing labor regulations in region and workforce-related legislation to ensure West workforce practices are compliant to all local laws and workforce regulations. Ensuring procedures for internal and external audits is in effect, providing information and documents necessary to demonstrate the conformity of the actions of the Department. Providing programmatic recommendations to support positive and safe work environments and employee experience.
  • Driving awareness and compliance with requirements of quality policy, internal safety and security standards, procedures and work instructions, corporate Code of Conduct, and other core policies for West.
  • Building partnerships within communities – in support of corporate social responsibility initiatives, to reinforce West as a scientific destination, and to help deliver talent into new West opportunities in a way that sustains the communities within which we live and work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology or related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in human resources

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources
  • Relevant HR experience in senior leadership role (strategic and operational) within an international highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong business knowledge and capability to assess HR implications of business priorities.
  • Experience in managing complex projects.   
  • Experience and motivation to work in an international, cross-functional matrixed environment.
  • Team player actively contributing to positive team spirit.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and objective problem-solving skills.
  • Works to the highest level of professional, ethics and moral standards.
  • Self-Organization, time management and prioritization.
  • Pragmatic approach and hands-on management style.
  • Leadership and collaboration skills to motivate and challenge individuals and teams.
  • Proficiency in MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety and quality policies at all times

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time, including internationally
