Job Summary:
This position will join a centralized North American cost accounting team located with West’s Financial Services team in Exton, PA. You will be responsible for the accounting across multiple manufacturing sites including the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries related to manufacturing accounting and inventory reserves to support accurate & timely financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and corporate financial policies
- Process manufacturing orders as part of the month-end close process
- Participate in other monthly close activities for plants in area of responsibility
- Prepare account reconciliations to ensure proper balance sheet valuation
- Calculate standard costing of products in SAP as part of new product workflow
- Monitor variances to standard cost and correct any erroneous errors
- Support the periodic cycle count process
- Reconcile 3rd party warehouses
- Ensure appropriate controls and compliance with US GAAP
- Support and assist other functions within the business as required
- Assists with systems implementations and/or process enhancements, as required
- Lead support for special projects, ad-hoc requests and other duties, as assigned
- Contributes in development, execution & completion of new procedures, process improvements
- Trains and supports in the growth of the staff accountants
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business with concentration in Accounting/Finance
- Experience: 5-8 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Accounting experience, preferable in a manufacturing environment using SAP or other ERP
- Understanding of GAAP and internal control principles
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Travel Requirements:
- Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Use written and oral communication skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills must be coupled with public speaking, quick decision making
- Organizational skills will enable planning, prioritization & achievement of goals especially of importance for the successful execution of related activities
- Position operates in a professional office environment. May stand or sit for extended periods of time
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
- Read and interpret data, information and documents
- Must maintain the ability to work well with others in a variety of situations
- Must be able to multi-task, work under time constraints, problem solve, and prioritize
- Ability to make independent and sound judgments
