REPORTS TO: Manager, Process Molding Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY:  Carry out special analytical investigations to generate critical technical information, making decisions concerning product improvement and overall quality.  Implement, interpret, correlate and communicate statistical studies performed on manufacturing processes.  Through understanding of tooling / process interactions and development of process, provide all pertinent validations of both tooling and process.  Interacts with Engineering / Customers on new projects or issues pertaining to the facility’s processes.  Write detailed technical reports on analytical data; provides periodic updates pertaining to assigned projects.

ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  1. Interacts with all departments pertaining to implementation of statistically established studies either for process improvements or establishment thereof.
  2. Lead the installation and validation of new equipment/process development through SAT/IQ/OQ/PQ
  3. Develop/write technical reports, protocols, change controls, issue reviews as required to defend or support decisions concerning material acceptability.
  4. Ensure quality of all materials used in the process by developing and implementing effective reliable testing techniques.
  5. Ensure continued reliability of testing techniques by maintaining current knowledge of all technical and analytical information.
  6. Write technical reports as required to defend or support decisions concerning material acceptability.
  7. Establish and implement reliable procedures to ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices.
  8. Provide project leadership for materials / process related projects by coordinating the efforts of the various departmental disciplines for the successful completion according to plan and budget.
  9. Support the efforts of production in materials related areas as a technical advisor.
  10. Reviews data using Minitab, for investigation of problems.
  11. Take appropriate action to ensure compliance with all safety, health and hazardous communication standards.
  12. Ensures that established policies, rules and regulations, and procedures are followed.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education: Bachelor’s

In Engineering, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, materials or plastics

Experience: 6-10 years

Complete working knowledge of all the molding processes in the plant and the associated tooling for each; including tooling design and manufacture.  Demonstrative knowledge of variability, numerical reasoning and computer applications. Must have an in-depth knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of experiments (DOE) and demonstrate use of same. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to accurately document work performed. Experience in writing and executing validation protocols and reports,

Direct/Indirect Reports: Directs the activities of assigned personnel in performance of studies pertaining to materials, process and tooling modifications.

PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk & hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit & use hands to handle, feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands & arms & stoop & kneel.
  • Employee must lift &/or move up to 10 pounds & occasionally lift &/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception & the ability to adjust focus.
  • Employee will be required to work 40 hours a week; involves overtime; call-in on off shifts, weekends & holidays.
  • Work performed in a Plant environment.     
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near moving mechanical parts. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. 
  • Must follow & comply with -Plant’s Dress & Hygiene Code (SOI).
  • Must follow & comply all Company & Plant policies, procedures (SOIs), rules & State & Federal laws.
