Job Summary:
In this role, you will provide strategic direction and management oversight to the Wearable Injection Devices Engineering team within the Drug Delivery Devices Operating Unit(DDD). This leader will apply their experience, knowledge of the medical device and pharmaceutical industry to lead, organize, direct, and execute strategically prioritized technical initiatives relating to the Drug Delivery Devices Operating Unit. This leader clearly defines functional strategies and objectives to ensure that they align with the overall business strategy on a continuous basis to achieve objectives in support of Operating Unit’s vision, strategic direction, and metrics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directly or indirectly leads process engineering, manufacturing engineering, automation and equipment in the process development, implementation, and qualification activities to commercialize and industrialize DDD products and production systems.
- Partner and/or liaison with Operating Unit Engineering team, Product Management, R&D (customer & 3rd party), Wearable Operations and Quality to ensure the smooth and timely introduction of new products and processes into operations and develop commercialization strategies including capital expenditure and approval justification process.
- Sets strategic priorities and has responsiblity for providing transformation road map in wearables platform engineering and leading the team in execution to the road map
- Provide technical stewardship and oversight in product lifecycle management and sustainment activities including process optimizing, troubleshooting and capital growth and expansion programs.
- Provide guidance and collaborate closely with site engineering and manufacturing operations teams to drive process performance and ensure highest quality and safety practices of our product, processes, and systems.
- Responsible for monitoring capacity and long range demand/supply plans to assure adequate installed capacity is put in plan and optimized to meet the needs of the business.
- Responsible for all run engineering metrics (e.g. yield, OEE etc.)
- Establishes competent and dedicated high-performing engineering teams to execute on Wearables engineering programs and initiatives.
- Collaborating across the Enterprise, including Quality, Supplier Management, Procurement, Commercial, Program Management and Manufacturing Operations to develop scalable capabilities.
- Ensure Design for Excellence, engineering, and industrialization of devices with appropriate collaboration and engagement from commercial, R&D, quality, regulatory and operations to effectively manage risk, compliance, performance and necessary standards and processes across all programs.
- Responsible for the performance and results of the team. Performs the day-to-day management of the team in compliance and consistent with the West values, policies, and procedures.
- Attracts, recruits, develops and builds capabilities. Inspires, coaches, trains, motivates and evaluates team members to enable their capabilities and accomplish the departments objectives
- Communicates key messages, goals and objectives to team members to drive alignment and a high-performance culture
- Represents Wearable Injection Devices Engineering where applicable at internal and external meetings to ensure that the needs of the business are met.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering related field
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in a related career path. Five years of demonstrable experience leading site or multi-site engineering teams.
- Minimum of 5 years of recent Medical Device or Packaging Systems experience required in leading industrialization, qualification, and start-up of high-volume automated assembly, plastic or elastomer molding assets.

- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgement in making decisions and resolving complex problems related to general & technical aspects of the role

Travel Requirements:
- Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Sedentary - exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to life, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met
