Job Summary:

Ideal candidates are quick thinking and confident to ensure consistent processing and foresight to know the next task required.  Acting with minimum supervision to ensure the molds are cleaned and prepped to the highest quality.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain certifications to operate molding presses
  2. Set up molding presses for production operation including but not limited to cleaning molds, set-up, clean-up, conditioning runs, apply mold release, eccentricity checks, and visual checks
  3. Proficient in troubleshooting and/or problem-solving molding related issues.  Prepare molding solution as required or requested and ensure processes are running within the predetermined control parameters. This includes making adjustments within allowable limits and/or evaluating operator techniques and/or evaluating materials to ensure acceptable products
  4. Perform Line Clearances
  5. Clean molds and Breaker Plates (Salt bath, Oven, CO2 Blast)
  6. Prepare molds for production (ex. Install vacuum strip and bars, inspect mold for damage, etc.)
  7. Perform decay test on mold before leaving the Mold Cleaning Room
  8. Prep molds in the mold cleaning room press (ex. Boil molds off, Bead Blast, CO2 blast, etc.)
  9. Complete PM’s on or before scheduled due date
  10. Maintain proper operating levels in the Salt Bath, Rinse Tanks, Fremont Tank and Solution Tanks
  11. Transport molds from mold cleaning room to press or air lock room
  12. Enter mold cleaning task in the Access Program
  13. Collect TLCM Samples
  14. Accurately maintain all required documentation and paperwork
  15. Assist Engineering and Maintenance when necessary
  16. Assist in lean and six sigma projects supporting operational excellence initiatives, when asked
  17. Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules
  18. Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance
  19. Maintain a clean and clutter-free work environment
  20. Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs

Education and Experience:

  • Experience: 0-3 years of manufacturing experience preferred
  • Must be able to operate a lift truck for material handling as needed
  • May be asked to take a Mechanical Comprehension test
  • Must have a good knowledge of the working tools of the trade
  • Must be willing and able to work effectively as a team member in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must be able to independently problem solve technical and/or mechanical issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members
  • Make general decisions within authorized areas of job responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Associate degree related to a technical discipline or working towards their degree preferred but not required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, schedules, diagrams and procedure manuals
  • Ability to work with various computer software programs
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence (ex. End of shift report, detailed emails, etc.)


Physical and Travel Requirements

  • Stand and walk for 12 hrs. per shift
  • Must be able to tolerate temperatures (250°F - 850°F) for short durations
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lb. unassisted
  • Pull molded materials from the mold presses (involving pull forces of ~ 50 - 60 lbs. or less for short durations) with multiple iterations per cycle and 6 – 8 cycles per hr.
  • Frequent above shoulder height work to pull molded product from the top mold
  • Frequent stretching and arm extension work on mold presses
  • Frequent bilateral grip/grasp and manual dexterity work required
  • Pushing or pulling of wheeled objects weighing 500+ lbs. or less for short periods of time and/or over short distances
  • Frequent bending and twisting as required by the job
  • Must also be able to tolerate industrial odors and smells on a frequent basis. 
  • Willing to work overtime as needed
