Job Summary:

Manages the production schedule to ensure the balance between demand and supply.  Leads the planning of demand, capacity, inventory and other production drivers; develops strategies for resolving variances to the plan.  Coordinates communication and data flow between manufacturing, supply chain and sales. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops short term plant production schedule; establishes and evaluates the scheduling priorities for both make-to-order and make-to-stock items.
  • Resolves demand, supply and capacity issues while optimizing both labor and equipment utilization.
  • Coordinates schedule of both dependent and independent demand.
  • Establishes and maintains production scheduling processes.
  • Tracks and manages inventory levels; establishes safety stock levels.
  • Analyzes discontinued items and coordinates exit strategy with buyer/planners.
  • Manages the order backlog to ensure acceptable customer service levels
  • Ensures the SAP system data elements related to supply chain are set to the correct parameters.
  • Mentors buyer/planners on inventory planning and scheduling.
  • Trains new supply chain professionals in business processes and ERP system.
  • Promotes and supports a Lean environment within the facility.
  • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5+ Years experience in a buying, planning or logistics position

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • CPIM, CSCP or C.P.M. certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products (Project, Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Experience with MRP and ERP systems, SAP preferred
  • Ability to incorporate methods and techniques involved in lean and JIT management
  • Dependable, detail oriented, able to multi-task and think creatively under pressure
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clear, concise and organized information, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience with sales and operations planning process.

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time


Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Medical component and device manufacturing requires strict adherence to standards. Working environment is a manufacturing facility. Must tolerate fumes and from various manufacturing processes
  • Must work constructively in an environment that may be stressful due to competing resources while at all times maintaining company confidentiality. Must maintain the ability to work well with others in a variety of situations. Must be able to multi-task, work under time constraints, prioritize and problem solve
  • Must be able to work scheduled work week, plus overtime and/or irregular hours as required to complete assignments
  • May need to stand or sit for extended periods of time
  • Must transport oneself to and from other areas of the facility and travel to other facilities when necessary
  • Must have good visual acuity. Must be able to see with or without corrective lenses for safety issues
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills, interpretation of data, interpersonal skills, ability to work on and lead teams. Use written and oral communication skills
  • Read and interpret data, information and documents. Ability to make independent and sound judgments. Observe and interpret situations, analyze and solve problems
