Job Summary:

Provide strategic direction and daily leadership to all engineering functions for the site.  Develop an engineering strategic vision that drives continuous improvement of all site processes, equipment, tooling, fixtures, systems, and work instructions. Develops and implements production processes that are efficient, effective, consistent, and provide safe and ergonomically superior operator experience.  Drive process, system, and equipment innovation throughout the manufacturing process.  Establish, oversee, and execute site capital project management process.  Build, mentor, and develop a high performing team of engineering talent to help ensure the future of the site and the company.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs the team of engineering managers, supervisors, and engineers that support all production processes for the site including: extrusion, molding, trimming, rinsing, pharmawashing, B2 coating, Envision, and Sterilization along with all supporting equipment and subprocesses such as DES, shaker tables, heat sealers, material handling conveyance, etc.
  • Oversees the site capital project management process to ensure all department’s capital needs for maintenance or growth/improvement are captured, evaluated, and properly addressed; all site capital spending is properly managed, budgeted, forecasted, and reported; an all capital projects are properly documented, resourced, executed with proper focus, completed, and closed out per an established and agreed process.
  • Oversee capital and non-capital projects to improve capacity, quality, efficiency, utilization, and safety at the appropriate cost. 
  • Lead all recommendations, assessments and/or validation processes for installation/upgrade of all manufacturing equipment
  • Primary site technical contact and lead for customer inquiries, audits, and interactions
  • As a key member of the site senior leadership team, provide direction and guidance for the engineering function and critical input into overall site strategic vision, culture, and operational decisions.
  • Provides technical engineering expertise and guidance when needed to ensure optimization of all manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Champions innovation and continuous improvement in all plant manufacturing and supporting processes
  • Utilizes strategic planning approach to continue to evolve the site toward an agreed future state.
  • Implements lean processes, KPI metric analysis and best practice strategies to drive excellence throughout manufacturing operations
  • Works collaboratively with internal stakeholders and/or external vendors in the development/modification of all in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic designs.
  • Research and analyze data such as vendor design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Performs other duties as assigned based on business need.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's in Engineering or technical degree required, master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years of technical work experience and 5 years of management experience
  • 5+ years of practical Engineering implementation experience in a manufacturing / production environment.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Lean Six Sigma training
  • cGMP knowledge.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting experience
  • Ability to manage projects from conception to production
  • Effectively use software tools to manage timelines and budgets
  • Self-motivated and solution-oriented personality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability/courage to successfully communicate with any required parties.
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
    • Compliance to all local environmental, health & safety regulations.

Physical, Mental and Travel Requirements

  • Travel up to 20% or as required
  • Safely work in construction environments
  • Noise level in the work environment while on the production floor is usually moderate to loud.  Hearing protection is required.
  • Must follow and comply with Plant’s Dress and Hygiene Code (SOI)
