Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead the construction phase of a number of capital projects in the Americas region providing clear direction and achieving milestones and objectives. You will ensure a consistent approach on how all facility & equipment projects are delivered monitoring costs, schedule, construction quality and ensuring the highest level of safety is followed while aligning with the global Engineering Project Delivery Guidelines. You will guide and support site teams and give direction through the construction phases of the projects up to final handover to the end users for successful project delivery. You will interface with customers and external support services, e.g. suppliers and contract vendors, to facilitate the development and execution of assigned projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Execute and direct new projects in line with West Engineering Project Execution Strategy including design management, construction management, commissioning and a structured Handover plan.
- Develop Project Management Plans (PMPs) for each project you lead, clearly identifying how schedule, costs, quality and safety shall be managed.
- Ensure projects are planned properly, including financials, resourcing, scheduling, in support of quality deliverables.
- Monitor and report on all project costs versus budgets and PER allowances. Identify possible overruns and mitigate against them.
- Define, drive and manage change management to control costs and scope to approved project needs.
- Ensure project capital forecasting is monitored & kept updated and on track on a monthly basis to support Cap Ex monitoring.
- Develop and maintain project schedules (e.g. MS Project, Dashboards) including all facility & equipment work tasks and identifying project critical path(s), risks, etc. Communicate status and progress on monthly basis through project Dashboard.
- Drive completion of project milestones, as determined by the team, based on timelines and project goals through all stages of the project to Handover.
- Ensure H&S Plans on sites are established in line with West Contractor management procedures and are followed throughout projects. Take the lead in ensuring best in class construction Safety standards are maintained on all sites.
- Ensure there is a robust Handover Plan in place for all project in line with West Handover process.
- Ensure the drive for West standardization and harmonization is maintained and any deviations are identified once they arise and are aligned with the Global SME teams while working closely and proactively with facility & equipment engineering teams, Operations, Program Management, Process Engineering, HSE and end user teams in order to develop an integrated facility & equipment engineering solutions for planned expansions and other projects.
- Responsible for adherence to the Project & Portfolio Management processes globally and actively work with the Program Managers, Project Sponsors and their stakeholders to successfully ensure a consistent delivery for all projects globally.
- Ensure that GMP aspects, current technical standards, local building codes and regulations and safety standards for the buildings are being considered and met.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or years of experience in a technical discipline to include: Business, Operations or Engineering in lieu of formal degree.
- Minimum of 10 years of Project/Construction Management or Operations Management in process-based manufacturing.
- At least two years of proven project management experience which includes operational planning and analysis.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Master’s Degree in related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Global safety regulations, manufacturing and process automation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of prefer SPA and MS Office applications.
- Demonstrated deep knowledge of MS Projects and scheduling, cost management & construction quality management systems.
- Knowledge of facilities design/ Construction practices and Handover of GMP systems.
- Experience working with ISO9000, FDA and cGMP required.
- Understanding and experience in use of Lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings, specifications, safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals and regulatory documentation.
- Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and process documents.
- Works independently with minimal guidance.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups and employees in the organization.
- Write monthly progress reports and capital requests.
- Ability to problem-solve.
- Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times.
- Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.
Travel Requirements:
- Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time, including international travel as needed.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Light – exerting up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force frequently constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of force greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
