Job Summary
A Controls Engineering Intern will work closely with the Automation team to design, construct and test automation projects and work with maintenance to troubleshoot existing equipment. Concentration on machine control, human machine interface design, and mechatronic systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support Automation projects that support business initiatives.
- Read PLC code and P&ID drawings to understand equipment operation for troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Able to write/ modify PLC code and HMI configurations to make minor performance modifications to equipment and systems.
- Support modifications to configurations and parameters of VFDs, Servo Drives and any other programmable/configurable devices to support enhancements to the operation of equipment.
- Support modifying pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and/or electrical systems to support new or current equipment; update drawings and documentation reflecting those modifications.
- All other duties as required.
Education
- Completed or currently enrolled in Electrical/ Mechanical/ Mechatronics/ Robotics Engineering Degree.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Willingness to ask for and except help developing the required skills.
- Ability to read and understand PLC code.
- Ability to learn robotic platforms.
- Ability to contribute to technical projects and initiatives.
- Able to use AutoCAD and Microsoft Office based programs.
- Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times.
- Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.
