Job Summary

The Global Warehousing Senior Manager is a new position at West. This new role is responsible for developing and leading a Center of Excellence (COE) for warehousing and shipping operations. This position is accountable for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the global materials management strategies, processes, and system standards that enable best-in-class performance. The Global Warehousing Senior Manager serves as subject matter expert and change champion for warehouse management, guiding local and regional warehouse management teams located globally to realize set supply chain transformation targets. Identify warehousing improvement opportunities and ensure business process improvement methodologies and best practices are shared and utilized to achieve tangible business results.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a Global Warehouse Management process and design improvement program and lead key transformation projects.
  • Act as innovation leader and change champion for warehousing processes and technologies, distribution center and warehouse layouts and designs, and material conveyance and storage solutions.
  • Define common warehouse design and process standards, and metrics that enable best-in-class performance. Define and implement warehouse management process maturity roadmap across value streams and sites in alignment with West’s management systems and standards.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for materials management on process development and implementation (people + process + capabilities (tools & IT solutions) across all sites.
  • Lead warehouse management system design and implementation globally utilizing cutting-edge technologies. Be part of global platform team to provide support for issue resolution, change management and trainings.
  • Work with global and local SCM teams to identify warehousing and shipping improvement opportunities to achieve West’s Supply Chain transformation target. Identify the best practices for warehouse design, warehousing and shipping processes, and material conveyance and storage solutions and share globally.
  • Own global technology roadmap for warehousing and material conveyance system solutions.
  • Benchmark performance of local warehouse processes and set ups, develop process improvement methodology and establish capability roadmaps to drive continuous improvement of the warehousing process and design.
  • Develop an assessment process to evaluate compliance of the local processes to the global standard. Work with regional and global leaders to implement corrective actions when and where necessary to regain compliance.
  • Act as content leader for warehousing and distribution competency models and talent development programs.


Basic Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering or Business
  • 8+ years of supply chain experience, 5 years of management responsibility in SCM management and Warehouse Management.  Experience in Demand Planning and Forecasting or Distribution Replenishment Planning is a plus.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with senior leadership across countries and sites.
  • Strong ability to project manage, defining business process issues, analyze operational efficiencies, implement creative solutions and measure delivery results, in the areas of supply chain and warehouse management.
  • Experience with SAP (S4Hana) and SAP Warehouse Management System.
  • Ability to drive change through influence, building trust and confidence across the organization.
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, complex supply network, multi-national company with a matrixed structure.
  • Must be able to read and write fluently in English.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced degree in Engineering or Supply Chain management highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities building highly effective teams with a global mindset.
  • Strong leadership and ability to influence.  Ability to anticipate and lead through ambiguity.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and build strong relationships by being transparent, reliable, and delivering on commitments.
  • Ability to provide creative ideas or alternatives to optimize the supply chain network and create value.
  • Strong understanding of global supply planning principals (financial and material flows, linkages, lead times, systems, supply network planning, budgeting, business acumen, inventory, accounts payable processes) and experience using SAP.
  • Has a continuous improvement mindset, strong strategic and analytical thinking, leverages data for problem solving and rapid decision making.  Able to go into a site warehouse, observe, identify areas for opportunity, work with the team to action and hold account.
  • Skilled in achieving results and managing others indirectly to achieve corporate and site objectives
  • Excellent communication skills, strong overall presentation and influencing skills, assertiveness, and ability to interact and gain support of senior management
  • Ability to create and foster a team-based environment to create and maintain cooperative relationships across the organization.
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Support and contribute to Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel 30-35% of the time, including internationally visiting local warehouses.
