Job Summary:

Diversity, inclusion, lifelong learning and the deliberate development of our leaders are critical to advancing the mission and purpose of West Pharma. The Senior Manager of Employee Experience, Diversity & Inclusion (EXDI) will be responsible for developing and deploying a globally integrated strategy that encompasses employee experience, diversity, equity, and inclusion, while enabling leaders and managers to foster a culture that models West’s values and supports our business goals. The incumbent will partner with key stakeholders to create experiences across the employee lifecycle that foster inclusion, diversity, individual and collective leadership by establishing standards related to the role of leaders at West, contemporizing content and experiences to develop a high-performance culture, and advancing the digitalization of learning.

 

The Senior Manager, EXDI also has responsibility for the Learning and Development team that supports the Global Operations (manufacturing) organization and other business units and managers the LMS. This role also has oversight of global projects and initiatives assigned to Talent & Organizational Effectiveness Partners.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee implementation of West’s Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) and Employee Experience (EX) framework and strategy.
  • Advise on best-in-class practices and provide guidance, support, resources and programs to leaders enabling them to lead West’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Employee Experience strategies and foster a world-class culture of deliberate development, continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and engagement for all.   
  • Support key stakeholders across West to integrate, assess and pull through D&I and employee engagement concepts and applications, and to leverage leadership development resources and tools across services, practices, and offerings, including Performance Management, Learning and Development, Corporate Communications, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, HRBPs.
  • Develop and equip leaders and managers with the tools, resources, and information to grow the company; build diverse, collaborative, adaptable teams; and establish mechanism to drive leadership accountability for demonstrating and reinforcing principles of global and collective leadership, and diversity and inclusion by providing consistent and meaningful standards and experiences that allow individuals to tap their potential
  • Advance and oversee the curriculum, content and delivery of the evolving role of global leaders at West, leveraging new technologies and listening strategies, and equipping leaders to lead the transformation and growth of the company.
  • Regularly communicate with Executive Leadership team on enterprise program strategy, direction, change, measures, and results. Supports the expansion and visibility of D&I and EE initiatives across all functions and geographies.
  • Represent West externally to give visibility to our Employee Experience, Diversity & Inclusion journey.
  • Support the organization with development and implementation of corporate diversity, equity and inclusion strategies in HR functions, including recruitment, performance management, leadership development, employee engagement and retention.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to launch and support (initiative guidance, budget support, membership criteria/guidelines etc.) the local activation of initiatives - including our Employee Business Resource Groups.
  • Partner with talent acquisition to attract and hire a dynamic and diverse workforce, and communications to establish D&I as a core brand attribute to clients, external communities and potential employees.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and liaison to HRBPs and the business to develop strategic actions to attract/develop/retain diverse talent by analyzing and presenting talent demographics, monitoring existing practices and data trends, and developing diversity initiatives.
  • Partner with our Philanthropy and CSR and Corporate Governance teams to strategically invest in organizations that support the advancement of underserved communities across the globe and that fight racism and gender inequalities.
  • Define and implement effective measures to monitor organizational performance and progress.
  • Identify, map, and measure the touchpoints across the ‘hire to retire’ journey, finding the moments that matter and the pain points that need to be addressed, and then create solutions.
  • Manage West’s Affirmative Action Plans and co-develop the strategy and initiatives to close our AAP gaps.
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships with industry subject matter experts (e.g. consultants, speakers, and external diversity partners) to support key business initiatives. Scan external research and best practices to bring new ideas into the organization.
  • Apply foresight and keep current on employee experience, leadership development, and D&I developments, opportunities, and metrics/trends outside the company; work with outside stakeholders such as suppliers, buyers, customers, organizations, and universities to research and implement unique and innovative approaches to corporate sustainability.
  • Develop strategy and oversee implementation of learning and development and organizational effectiveness initiatives
  • Develop team of direct reports, HR colleagues, and line of business representatives who can support and sustain West’s employee experience, diversity & inclusion strategy.

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in HR Management, Behavioral Science, or related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Change Management, Organization Development, or Leadership
  • 15+ years of Human Resource experience with employee engagement, leadership, and diversity & inclusion.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; must be able to effectively communicate information to all levels of the organization.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to partner with senior executives and designing and facilitating programs across North America, Europe and AP. Proven experience managing global programs requiring collaboration with multiple functions and senior leadership; experience building or managing diversity and inclusion programs is preferred, some travel as required locally and internationally.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and deepen connections with diverse people, groups, and communities across all ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, functionalities and generations.
  • Demonstrated skills in organizational change management processes; has experience with success and failure.
  • Understanding of federal, state and local EEO laws and regulations.
  • Strong commitment and alignment of values with those of the organization.
  • Embrace quantitative and qualitative data as integral to developing strategy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment with multiple overlapping priorities.
  • Flexible, compassionate, and seek to be innovative in their approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to address and manage sensitive topics across the global landscape of diversity and inclusion with every level in the workplace.
  • Needs to analyze results, measure outcomes and develop initiatives without disenfranchising stakeholders or beneficiaries, but at the same time not backing down from a challenge to what's planned.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
