Hybrid role (3 days in office) Exton, PA Location

 

Job Summary:

The Manager, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG, Strategy and Support) at West assists in leading the global ESG initiatives, setting short to long-term objectives and overseeing their realization across functional teams. This role work very closely with other ESG team members, including the ESG Leader to establish ESG strategy, define priorities and devise global, regional and local plans to allow West to accomplish its Global ESG goals.  This role will also work collaboratively with our ESG data team to assist with the establishment and maintenance of global data systems, the creation of annual ESG reports, steering waste management towards reuse channels, and serving as the primary liaison for ESG concerns from assigned company and external stakeholders. In collaboration with global departments, the manager ensures the seamless execution of ESG strategies, upholds compliance with various reporting standards such as CSRD, CDP, and GRI, and continuously seeks opportunities to elevate our ESG program.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to tailor ESG solutions and strategies to their specific needs. Augment engagement with primary customers and investors, ensuring timely and effective responses to all ESG-related inquiries.
  • Champion the creation and release of the annual ESG report, working with Communications and Data Collection and Reporting teams.
  • Routinely evaluate company achievements relative to ESG goals, proposing enhancements based on detected gaps, evolving demands, market shifts, and external comparisons.
  • Manage Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTi) certification processes
  • Serve as the go-to ESG subject matter expert on for assigned business functions, which may include operations, commercial, supply chain and research & development projects, including a focus on developing operational and secondary waste reduction
  • Partner with varied department leads to collate data, devise action steps, and track progress on diverse ESG initiatives.
  • Ensure conformity to key reporting standards such as CSRD, SEC, EFRAG, and CBAM, while spearheading program enhancements.
  • Establish robust procedures and systems for dialogues with internal and external stakeholders concerning ESG issues, including assessment of and development of ESG policies, processes and systems where appropriate.
  • Monitor ESG reporting best practices and evolving legislative and regulatory regimes to integrate them with our ESG strategies and advance reporting precision and performance.
  • Delineate short, medium and long-term ESG goals for projects, facilities, regions, and assist with assimilating these goals into overall ESG strategy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience: 8 years of relevant experience in a ESG or sustainability related role

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • BS related to ESG, corporate responsibility, environmental science, or other relevant discipline
  • Advanced level skill in MS Excel, Power Point, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with SBTi and Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions calculations
  • Experience with ESG reporting software, including NASDAQ OneReport
  • Advanced knowledge of the depth and breadth of sustainability related ranking organizations such as DJSI and CDP
  • Ability to strictly observe all organizational guidelines, policies, and safety regulations.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and deadline driven
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Exceptional ability to immediately establish credibility with senior executives
  • Ability to independently manage projects and solve problems
  • Proven ability to cultivate teamwork and fill knowledge or skill gaps where needed
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, business partners, resource managers, and other senior level executives.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects/priorities and simple systems simultaneously
  • Able to exercise good judgment and maintain a high level of integrity
  • Ability to comply with the company’s safety and quality policy at all times

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time

 

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Sedentary - exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to life, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met

  • Organizational skills will enable planning, prioritization & achievement of goals especially of importance for the successful execution of related activities
  • Position operates in a professional office environment. May stand or sit for extended periods of time
