Job Summary :   

As the Logistics and Warehousing category manager, you will oversee and optimize the performance of this category at West. This leader will be heavily integrated with the Supply Chain team to understand and build a strategy for West’s needs. This is a new role at West and the initial focus of the role will be partnering with Supply Chain to develop RACI’s, design and implement the ways of working with the Supply Chain team as well as the process’s to manage the category. The ideal candidate will be a self starter who is eager to build out a Procurement Logistics and Warehousing Category at West. This individual will partner with all levels of leadership cross-functionally to build impactful, efficient, and cost-effective business and supplier relationships. This leader will support initiatives and processes targeted at improving operational and supply chain execution, customer service levels, and the optimization of West’s Logistic and Warehousing network.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support West’s overall objectives, providing strategic leadership by setting the vision, strategy, and objectives for the global Logistics category, across the enterprise.
• Translate regional/global procurement strategy into detailed category plans with a set of measurable global, regional, and local targets and facilitate procurement processes and policies for regional/global alignment.
• Implement and execute best-in-class decision making, e.g., Preferred Supplier programs, effective T&C structure and global agreements. Establishes proper metrics to ensure sourcing decisions follow TCO principles and delivers year over year cost savings.
• Manage complex multi-year supplier relationships leading negotiations with these suppliers.
• Plans, organizes, directs, controls and communicates all strategic sourcing activities related to assigned commodities and services to cross functional teams.
• Proactively assesses internal and external process improvements and influences effective change and drive innovation and continuous improvements.
• Responsible for timely reporting of agreed upon KPI’s and presenting Strategic Sourcing plans, activities and progress.
• Collaborates with finance in managing and improving working capital year over year.
• Other Category Manager duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a Business or Technical curriculum, or non-academic bachelor of business administration.
• Experience: 6-10 years of progressive business experience in sourcing/supplier/category management or related functions.
• Competencies:
  • Supplier and contract management experience.
  • Ability to work with senior leadership teams at manufacturing sites and global headquarters.
  • Strong influencing, change management, and negotiation skills.
  • Present and advocate sourcing cases to a variety of audiences with self-confidence.
  • Ability to respectfully communicate to and challenge senior leadership.
  • Openness for new initiatives, fast learner, proactive.
  • Ability to lead teams and build effective working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Results orientation.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.

  • Proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education: Master’s degree in a Business or Technical curriculum, or equivalent.
• Experience: 6-10 years of progressive business experience in sourcing/supplier/category management or related functions, preferably with chemical industry or pharmaceutical industry background.
• Competencies:
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, team leadership, negotiation and project management skills.
  • Supply Chain or Procurement Certifications.
  • Experience with global sourcing initiatives.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional projects.
  • Experience in SAP (MM) and MS Office.
  • Proficiency in one additional language.

Travel Requirements:  

Travel time is expected to be less than 20%
