Job Summary:
The West Engineering Development Program is a three-year rotational program that provides the opportunity for select individuals to gain comprehensive, real-world experience and an understanding of Engineering as part of West’s Manufacturing Operations. This program will allow trainees to gain experience in various Engineering functions, with exposure to Production, Safety, Health & Environmental, Supply Chain and Quality. The program includes three to four rotations across different functions, designed to deepen insights and skills in various Engineering areas, which may include Automation, Tooling, Validation, Metrology, and Preventative Maintenance. The participants will be involved in a variety of projects, collaborate with multiple teams, and acquire a broad range of skills pertinent to Engineering. In this Engineering Program, participants can play a key role in supporting and executing engineering and operational projects while developing an understanding the role of the Engineering and Production teams in West’s facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively engage in assigned projects, applying practical skills and knowledge.
- Assist in developing usage of tools and processes for production and quality investigations as well as continuous improvement.
- Analyze data, process capabilities, customer concerns and expectations and any other leading or lagging indicators which may be used to improve product and process knowledge.
- Identify manufacturing and development constraints. Work with production and technical subject matter experts in performing root cause failure analysis and supporting the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to preclude recurrence.
- Assists facility with quality improvement programs by utilizing Six Sigma tools and Lean techniques, including the education of facility personnel on these tools and techniques
- Assumes responsibility for various assigned projects designed to improve product quality, reduce costs and/or validate facility products or processes, including development and implementation of any new or required inspection methods and in-process SPC programs.
- Assist in implementing new innovative processes and technologies in cooperation with the local Leadership team and the manufacturing site.
- Work collaboratively with team members across various Engineering functions, fostering a productive and positive work environment.
- Work with others to identify causes of problems and develop resolution strategies.
- Continuously develop and refine skills relevant to each rotation, including technical, analytical, and soft skills necessary for effective performance.
- Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Seniors currently enrolled in a 4-year accredited degree program
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering majors required
- Completion of the degree required by June 2025
- Permanent work authorization in the US
- Willingness and able to relocate for rotational assignments
- Willingness to move permanently to any West US location

Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Ability to move different sites
- Need to have extreme attention to detail
- Ability to work in an office and/or manufacturing environment. May need to stand or sit for extended periods of time
- Medical component and device manufacturing require strict adherence to standards. Must be able to tolerate fumes and from various manufacturing processes, also subject to heat and cold, as well as, loud noise
