Responsible to develop, lead and execute a portfolio strategy for stopper components to strengthen Wests market leadership position within elastomers portfolio. Turning market and customer insights into solutions that deliver on financial objectives.  This role plans and directs all aspects of the product platform, including successful commercialization of new products, and life cycle management.  The individual is a platform expert for stopper components and ensures that external focused communications leverage West enterprise wide integrated system capabilities for drug containment, administration and delivery.   Person demonstrates strong leadership, communication, drive for results, and implement strategies and drive organizational consensus.




  • Manage the lifecycle of a portfolio of stopper products and services with focus on high value products,
    • Actively manage portfolio lifecycle with strategy for new product introduction, product upgrade/lifecycle extension and  sunsetting specific products or technologies.
    • Position products within the portfolio to respond to customer needs, competitive threats, or future opportunities to maximize the value captured for West.
    • Collaborate with Strategic Portfolio Pricing and Sales OPS on pricing strategies.
  • Lead commercial launch or sunsetting of stopper products within portfolio
    • Identify new opportunities based on input from strategic marketing leads, voice of customer, market insights, therapeutic needs analysis, forecasts, risks and product/service needs.  
    • Translate product concepts into defined products/service needs to I&T with detailed user requirements, design inputs, specifications, technical needs and warranties.
    • Develop business cases in partnership with market units, I&T, operations, quality and other departments to justify investment of capital and resources
    • Partner with Innovation & Technology, Quality, Operations, Sales and Regulatory to take product concept through the transition from development to industrialization and on to full commercial offering.
    • Collaborate with market units on sales training, communications, sales tool development, and tactical efforts.  
    • Collaborate with Technical Services to ensure scientific positioning and support documentation.


  • Partner with operations and supply chain in development of manufacturing strategy providing guidance regarding long term product line strategies.
    • Responsible for long-term demand forecast of assigned categories.
    • Provide business justification for capital expenditures and support operations PER development and approval.
  • Provide internal and external field support for the portfolio and on assigned strategic account teams including global assigned responsibility.
    • Drive collaboration with technology partners, contract manufacturers (CMOs) and other industry leaders to improve scientific understanding and enable customers with new West technology.
    • Participate in collaboration with Scientific Affairs with industry associations, present at industry forums, publish trade journal articles and support educational series.
    • Provide strategic direction and build content with Corporate Communications on product communications including articles, social media content, advertisements, digital content, etc.
  • Working knowledge of regulations and new guidance’s, standards such as ISO, & new market trends especially around combination products/medical device regulations.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Other assignments as developed and assigned.



  • Education: Bachelor's in technical area i.e. biology, chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, etc.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in B2B markets requiring a high degree of technical selling and regulatory oversight. Demonstrated increasing levels responsibility in Product Management, Strategic Marketing, or Business Development.
  • Supervision: None



  • MBA or equivalent degree must be coupled with good technical understanding
  • Excellent knowledge of injectable drugs and self-administration.
  • 2 years’ experience in operations, supply chain, or process/manufacturing engineering.



  • Ability to travel a minimum of 35%
