Job Summary:

The Sr. Engineer in this role will research, ideate, pitch, design, prototype and test new concepts and technology initiatives in collaboration with a global multidisciplinary team.  The engineer will be responsible to interact with cross functional teams and ensure that efforts conform with the project objectives.  The engineer will possess a good command of engineering principles and demonstrate talent for design and problem solving. The engineer must demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment or as an individual contributor as required by the project need.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute project workstreams with cross-functional teams with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or high complexity
  • Perform research to identify relevant emerging medical device industry trends and technologies that support the development of new product concepts, collaborating within the enterprise.
  • Use knowledge of the industry and engineering principles to generate new product concepts and support team objectives.
  • Serve as SME for assigned equipment and areas of knowledge
  • Ability to communicate complex, difficult and/or sensitive information to a wide stakeholder base; work to influence and build consensus
  • Solve complex problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions- especially when combining with untested approaches
  • Generate solid models, drawings, schematics, or other specifications required to produce prototypes of high fidelity and functional ability
  • Preparation of visual and oral presentations to pitch new product ideas to management and stakeholders.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and track progress against plan (scope, budget, schedule, and task).
  • Prototype product concepts by leveraging internal and external capabilities.  
  • Assemble prototype product concepts, and test function and performance. Use data to drive decisions and path forward.
  • Collaborate across business functions as required to accomplish personal and group objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree in biomedical, chemical, materials or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5-8 years of experience, minimum of 5 years of experience in a product design/development role.
  • Requires depth and/or breadth of expertise in own specialized area and general knowledge of related areas with demonstrated competence in design for multifaceted biological systems
  • Product design and development experience.
  • Able to plan, communicate, and execute assigned projects.
  • Able to work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.








Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Solidworks design software a plus.
  • 3-D Printing and prototyping experience.
  • Design and development of specialized test fixtures and methods.
  • Familiarity with a range of medical devices for example drug delivery systems
  • Familiar with prototyping using Arduino and other development electronics hardware / software.
  • Experience in electromechanical medical device design
  • Familiar with design control, FDA 820.30, ISO-13485, ISO-11608, IEC-60601, and other related standards.



Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time

  • Must be able to work in an office/home office/lab environment based on needs
