Job Summary:

In this role, you will represent the Analytical Laboratory Germany globally as part of the Lab Network and at local level as part of the Senior Leadership Team in our production site in Eschweiler. You will independently lead the Laboratory Germany, including all Chemical, Microbiological, Particulate and Environmental Monitoring Testing. As an experienced people manager, you will provide leadership to continuously develop the Laboratory Team Germany (direct and indirect reports > 50).


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring a safe, cGMP-compliant and on-time provision of analytical testing to support operation at the Eschweiler and Stolberg plants
  • Major contributor to the development and implementation of the Global Lab strategy within Europe
  • Lead the roll out for strategic new technology/innovation projects to the global lab network
  • Developing and coaching the leadership capabilities of the next Management Level (Supervisors/Team Leads) to continuously improve the laboratory team´s engagement, performance and job satisfaction
  • Driving continuous improvement of the laboratory team´s capabilities and ensuring presence of a skill- and mind-set that meets business needs and customer expectations
  • Accountable for delivering key local Laboratory projects such as major Laboratory facility projects or implementation of new IT systems (SAP S4/HANA, LIMS) at the Laboratory Germany
  • Supporting other functions (e.g. R&D, TCS, QA, process engineering) and external customers with testing at the analytical Laboratory Germany as well as providing the Laboratory Germany team´s expertise as a Subject Matter Expert and point of contact for cross-functional projects
  • Continuously improving the KPI of the Laboratory Germany with a strong focus on safety, cGMP-compliance and on-time delivery of test results
  • Driving the implementation and continuous improvement of Data Integrity compliance of Laboratory equipment and processes
  • Identifying, initiating and leading Lean improvement activities in accordance with global Enterprise and Laboratory Strategy
  • Monitoring and reporting of the progress of local laboratory projects at plant level and global laboratory leadership level


Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree in Science with focus on Chemistry, Microbiology or related scientific area, preferably with a PhD
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in managing large Laboratory Teams (direct and indirect reports > 20)
  • Strong leadership and communication capabilities
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Experience in a global and cross-functional environment


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong Background in pharmaceutical/GMP-regulated industry
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Customer-focused mindset
