Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for executing projects to support the qualification and re-validations of sterilizable packaging systems for existing components to enhance and preserve West’s high value products. You will act as subject matter expert for flexible, sterile barrier packaging and work with strategic suppliers to develop and improve West packaging systems. You will work closely with multidisciplinary and international groups including facility engineering, process engineering, procurement, quality assurance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute sterile barrier packaging design verification and process validation activities to verify package performance and integrity
- Coordinate packaging testing activities for engineering studies and protocols through internal and external packaging laboratories
- Support compliant and technical/scientific documentation in writing protocols, reports, and risk analysis (FMEAs) to maintain the Design History File (DHF)
- Create and optimize packaging diagrams, procedures, conduct design reviews and author reports
- Apply project management techniques to coordinate tasks assigned for key projects within budget, schedule constraints and maintain planned project milestones
- Technical point of contact for strategic suppliers of packaging material in close collaboration with West procurement
- Support operations in developing packaging procedures and providing training to production personnel, where applicable
- Provide post-commercialization packaging support to West operations / customers to sustain current business
Qualifications:
- Successfully completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Packaging, Materials, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or another technical or scientific area
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of professional experience in packaging engineering or a related field, desirable in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry
- Project leadership within international, cross-functional teams
- Strong technical writing abilities and documentation, such as protocols, reports and technical evaluations
- Effective problem-solving ability and strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent English knowledge and good German language knowledge both written and spoken
- Travelling mostly within Europe to suppliers
