Job Summary

Perform a wide variety of  electrical activities on various pieces of plant & equipment to maintain safe operations of equipment while maintaining production goals and quality standards. Knowledge in the field of mechanical resolution will also be required in your day to day role. Other responsibilities include sourcing parts for obsoleted parts and ordering them, documenting all the maintenance activities performed, PM's, installation, and validations of equipment where applicable. Will support and help other groups like Process, QA and Maintenance in resolving problems, improvements, investigations etc. In this role you will Service/maintain all plant & equipment site wide. Ability to work from schematics, sketches to include verbal, or written instructions. In addition to your regular day-to-day duties outlined in your job description; the working lead will act as the "go to" person ensuring tasks are delegated and completed. Communicating with area managers/supervisors, and following up with all correspondence to ensure smooth operation

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance of plant and equipment in the facilities department, compiling standard specifications /procedures for each item and monitoring all existing plant to standard specifications.
  • The above equipment will include AHU’s, chillers, compressors, dryers and electrical systems.
  • Responsible for specifying and purchasing the most suitable equipment spares and in conjunction with the procurement department negotiating the best deal.
  • Establishes relationships with the customers and suppliers in pursuit of continuous improvement and on-going business development.
  • Attends internal meetings to help establish priorities and assign tasks.
  • Solves, in conjunction with the Quality department, customer related problems/issues as needed.
  • Ensures works and related work-orders are processed in full via SAP.  
  • In conjunction with approved vendors, research new processes and/or systems for maintenance/manufacture of equipment and implement new processes and systems as developed under the direction of the Operations Manager.
  • Coordinate the development of documentation in the facilities areas in line with ISO9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001 requirements, and review the systems with appropriate personnel and the Quality department on a regular basis to ensure conformance to same.
  • Compliance to all site Environmental, Health and Safety requirements, training and regulations.
  • Compliance to all local site company policies, procedures and corporate policies.
  • Act in accordance with the company’s Guiding principles and adherence to the Corporate Code of Conduct.
  • Perform additional duties at the request of the direct supervisor.

Education

  • Time served Electrician - Advanced level 6 trade certificate qualification. 

Work Experience

  •  A minimum of 5 + years post experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment would be an advantage.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic schematic diagrams.
  • Previous experience in CMMS with ability to navigate competently.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks; must be detail orientated and self-motivated.
  • Must be able to deal with all levels of employees and work across various departments.
  • Must be able to work independently on own projects while working concurrently with all departments.
  • Establishes relationships with the customers and Equipment/ Raw Material suppliers in pursuit of continuous improvement and on-going business development.

Travel Requirements

5%: Up to 13 business days per year

Physical Requirements

Medium-Exerting up to 50lb/22kg of force occasionally and/or up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs/4kgs of force constantly to move objects.

Additional Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see and use hands and finger to operate office equipment (ie phones, computers, copies, etc.).
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods may occur as well as getting to and from offices and building sites.
  • The ability to be able to lift and carry various items up to 40 pounds.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles.
  • The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and or equipment.
  • The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet. The noise level in the manufacturing work environment is moderate to loud. Hearing protection is required at all times in the manufacturing work environment.
  • Job requires mental skill or ability such as communication, decision making (sometimes quick), interpreting data, reading or writing, organization, problem solving, understand direction, supervise and speak publicly, etc.
