JOB TITLE: Technical Support APPROVAL DATE: 24 Nov 2021 ALTERNATIVE TITLE: Molding Technician JOB CODE: TPR027 SALARY BAND: Hourly FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt POSITION SUMMARY: Acting with minimum supervision to ensure that the molding processes are operating at maximum output while maintaining highest quality. Upon completion of successful startup, transfer the process to production.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: List primary duties and responsibilities of the job, in order of importance and with percentage of time spent on each duty / responsibility. If this is a management level position, include supervisory responsibilities. • Performs all prerequisites for shutdown and starting a production tool. • Performs mold set-ups and/or changes in a timely manager according to the production schedule or as directed or according to schedule or according to need. • Properly document all process-related data. • Responsible for process troubleshooting and start-ups as required. • Anticipates set-ups and/or job changes and ensures all equipment, material, etc. for the next scheduled job are prepared and ready prior to starting the actual set-up change. • Assist manufacturing engineering with new equipment start up and debug. • Support process improvements, cost reductions/savings, scrap reductions, etc. through the implementation of LEAN concepts • Provide technical expertise to other plant personnel. • Assist in installation and validation of new products. • Setting of molds to instructions, specifications, and standard charts. • Manipulation of machine controls to achieve desired parameters using established process control methods. • Sets-up conventional molds as well as more complex molds with multiple core pulls, auxiliary hydraulics, and manifolds. • Installation and removal of molds in molding machines, observing all safety methods related to the machines, molds, and co-workers. • Staging, set-up and troubleshooting of secondary equipment. • Initiate corrective action for jobs running out of standard cycle. • Promote 5S mentality and push for strong housekeeping principles. • Perform and record mold cleaning and machinery as required. • Store tooling. Record tooling maintenance or configure tooling as required. • Load material driers and machine hoppers with raw material if necessary. • Adhere to all company policies. • Follow all safety rules and safety procedures. • Must observe all good housekeeping practices. • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance. • Performs other non-included tasks assigned by the Supervisor / Manager, according to the company/business needs, if they do not violate the safety or integrity of the employee.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: List required education level and/or equivalent experience, number of direct reports and any required skills or certifications, consistent with West’s leveling guidelines. Education: • Associate degree in technical field or equivalent in experience from an accredited university. • Experience: 3-5 years of experience • Knowledge of injection molding processes, workflows and production equipment. • Must have effective problem solving and interpersonal skills. • Prior manufacturing experience in an industrial setting, preferably in injection molding. Language Skills: • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of employees. • Bilingual, Spanish, and English languages. • Able to read, understand and implement technical documents and redact memos, instructions and protocols related to the job tasks. Mathematical Skills: • Able to apply mathematical concepts such as: o Add, subtract, multiply, divide, ratios, percentages, and statistical calculations. • Able to use and convert from the English to the metric system. Computer Skills: • Use of computer systems to perform various tasks using specialized or dedicated software. • Knowledge in computer use including Microsoft Office applications Certifications / Licenses: • N/A Interpersonal Relationships: • Internal: Production Operators, Supervisors, Quality Assurance personnel, Auditors, and Managers. • External: Vendors, Technical Support vendors, contractors, External agency auditors PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: List any preferred education, skills, and/or experience. • Master Molder preferable • Experience in mold setup and startup strongly preferable. • Injection Molding process development skills a plus. • Understanding Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing principles preferably. • Six sigma green belt preferred. • Knowledge in E-dart software preferably. PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: List type of work environment (office, home, etc…), % of travel required or any other relevant working conditions. • Physical skills to lift 50 pounds approximately 50% of the work day. • Ability to push/pull into position molds and/or equipment weighing up to 600 pounds. • Possess manual dexterity to utilize hand and the arm strength to torque down bolts. • Minimal to no travel requirements The job description reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job identified and shall not necessarily be construed as a detailed description of all of the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.
