Job Summary:
The Principal Solution Architect-Firmware, R&D works independently and has expert level capabilities and knowledge. Oversees and designs the software for the next generation IOT edge devices including carrier board design, other data acquisition and special purpose processing systems for real time computing use cases. This role plays in key role in the building of a futuristic and next generation Equipment and devices in Medical Domain.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Possesses deep understanding of the complete product life cycle of Software design from requirements, design document, design level block diagrams, Test report and Risk Analysis.
• Possesses Hardware knowledge of Creating and Understanding Design Requirements. Reviewing Circuits, Component evaluation, Schematic Reading, Layout Analysis, Test report, Risk Analysis and Integration.
• Utilizes knowledge and experience to debug the hardware using various lab equipment.
• Shows extensive thought leadership in designing the future embedding systems, software engineering and development associated with data acquisition and processing devices on SOC (system of a chip) architecture.
• Trains and supports team members to enable their capabilities and accomplish the department’s priorities.
• Builds and maintains strong relationships with the team and business to ensure collaboration and alignment within and outside of the R&D function.
• Using knowledge and expertise, solves unique and complex issues, recommends architecture and processes, recommends changes to existing architecture and processes, and exceptions to architecture, technology, and process standards globally.
• Helps drive agile and DevOps culture of implementation and product management culture.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree with specialization in Electronics or Computer Science
• Minimum 8-10 years of related work experience .
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Expert level knowledge in developing embedded software/firmware (Board Support Package, Device Drivers, RTOS and Bare Metal Scheduler) using C programing language.
• Familiar with safety practices like DFMEA, FMEA and DRBFM
• Extensive hands on PoC activities utilizing System on a Chip (SOC) boards, COTS development boards, designing solutions and building products including carrier board designs
• Strong knowledge of programing using SDK for various development boards in the market
• Working knowledge of BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRA, Ethernet, UART, SPI, I2C, USB etc. with device driver level exposure.
• Deep understanding and experience in IoT methodologies, Microsoft Azure, Google Compute Engine and AWS
• Ability to work in a virtual environment in a global organization and to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with high flexibility and rapid response time
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced & complex environment with a self-motivated work ethic; utilize sound judgment with an ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency
• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in making decisions and resolving complex problems related to general & technical aspects of the job. Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, policies and business practices to achieve results.
• Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.
• Able to comply with the company’s safety and quality policies at all the times.
Physical and Travel Requirements
• Up to 20% travel may be required including global travel
• Occasional on-call work required
