Job Summary:


The Solution Architect, Digital & Transformation, MS SQL Administrator has strong understanding and experience on configuring Azure SQL database as well as solution best practices. This role researches, designs, and delivers solution architectures based on the needs of the business. In addition, this position serves as the primary Infrastructure point of contact for designing the architecture of new solutions and proof of concepts in the cloud. This role plays an influential role in the migration from on-premises to Azure SQL architecture.

This role focuses on the application and infrastructure deployment, lifecycle and patch management and service delivery of End User Services at the manufacturing facilities.

This role works with D&T and manufacturing management to ensure that strategy, policies, standards and operations are defined and adhered to ensure robust support of manufacturing operations. 

The role also partners with the business unit leadership to understand the business requirements and collaborates with the Global Infrastructure and Operations, Development and Application teams to ensure that all IT services at Manufacturing facilities are delivered, supported and measured.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).
Data Migration/Upgrade across different MS SQL server versions.
Handling SQL Server database (2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018).
Handling Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, SQL Profiler, SQL Server Configuration Manager,  SQL Server audit, Perfmon, SQL Diagnostic Manager etc.
With assistance handle SQL Server DB on Windows (On-premise & Azure).
Perform test backups to ensure systems can meet the business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
Setting up backups & restore/recovery mechanisms.
Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends.
Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms.
As new systems are brought in-house, understanding the concept to use clustering, log shipping, data mirroring, Windows Azure, or other technologies.
With guidance install and configure new SQL Servers.
Determine the most effective way to increase performance changes.
Ensure that new database code meets company standards for readability, reliability, and performance.
Update stakeholders and provide the list of the top 10 most resource-intensive queries on the server and suggest ways to improve performance on each.
Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree, business administration, accounting, or closely related discipline or equivalent experience
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in related fields

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledgeof Security levels. Creating of SQL Server Login & User assigning roles to them and Authentication modes as part of Security policies for various categories of users.
Understanding and implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions in the on premise.
Proven communication and presentation skills and the ability to make the complex technical discussions simple and in business terms.  Ability to communicate and build relationships.
Configuring Azure SQL database.
Building and deploying multi-tier, scalable, and highly available applications using web and database technologies.
Creating and implementing custom Azure roles based on the needs of the company
Good understanding in Windows and/or Linux administration.
Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how, when to utilize them.
Ability to work in a virtual environment in a global organization and to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced & complex environment with a self-motivated work ethic.
Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.
Defines and guides continuous improvement efforts for service and support in consultation with the manager.
Along with D&T leadership, architects, and other D&T service and solution managers, defines and guides continuous improvement efforts for service and support to End User.

Travel Requirements:

Average travel required is 10%, including international travel
