Job Summary
Injection mold tooling engineering position supporting projects including designing, receiving, and transferring of injection molds, molding automation end of arm robot tooling, assembly automation metrology fixtures, and various manufacturing aids. Responsible for purchasing, tracking and transferring injection molds and other associated tooling required for plant manufacturing operation; assist with project installation and commissioning to improve/maximize site production, quality, profitability and safety from an equipment and tooling perspective. Works closely with both internal and external customers and vendors. Responsible for supporting the execution of engineering efforts from concept to production for new products and continuous improvement initiatives within existing systems/platforms within the customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with injection mold tooling and associated injection molding automated system validation. Tasks include writing, reviewing and executing validation documents and assisting with injection mold and injection molding equipment start-up and troubleshooting.
- Provide technical expertise on injection mold design and operation to the Quality, Engineering and Production teams as required.
- Provide support for the installation of new injection molds, equipment and related automated systems; collaborate with other engineering team members to investigate tooling and process problems; make new product design/process recommendations as necessary.
- Communicate requirements with internal customers and suppliers such that project goals and customer’s needs are met or exceeded.
- Support a Lean Manufacturing environment within the facility
- Maintain injection mold and hot runner drawings for the Tool Room.
- Control the injection mold documentation revision state to make sure that the MasterControl quality document control system reflects the correct version of the vendor’s and/or customer’s drawings, 3D CAD, BOM and other related documentation.
- Provide timely support for the completion of quality investigations and project document update requests, including but not limited to, Issue Reviews, NCMR’s, CAPA’s and Change Requests.
- Create and update 3D CAD models and detailed drawings for injection molds, end of arm tools, assembly fixtures, and assembly manufacturing aids.
Additional Responsibilities
- Help create a feedback system to communicate design issues and potential improvements between the Production team and internal and customer New Product Introduction (NPI) teams.
- Support with Incoming of new tools, full IQ including, Steel cert, attachment, MAT form, updating inventory. Preparation/Documentation package (Engineering) Execution (Mold Makers)
- Handle inventory management of qualified and unqualified spare steel and tool room consumable items. Track tool vendor progress along with milestone dates and supporting background information on problems and delays. Coordinate and schedule outbound and inbound shipping between the customer, tooling vendors and internal West teams.
- Assist with design, documentation, and fabrication of custom parts/tools/fixtures to support site production (End of Arm Tooling (EoAT), production injection molds, custom fixtures/parts). Provide support with some short-term solutions to keep the lines running.
- Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.

Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience required
Work Experience
- 0-3year of experience in an engineering capacity.
- Advanced in using SolidWorks. required
- Excellent computer skills required including all MS Office applications. required
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience in an active manufacturing environment, especially in injection molding
- Experience designing complex injection molding tools
- Experience fabricating, assembling or servicing complex injection molding tools
- Experience with simple electronic wiring assemblies and sensor systems
- Proficient in applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) concepts
- Experience working in a regulated GMP or GLP environment
- Experience applying lean manufacturing and design for manufacturability (DFM) concepts
- Previous experience with SAP S/4 HANA is a plus.
