Who We Are:
At West, we’re a dedicated team that is connected by a purpose to improve patient lives that has been at the center of our Company for more than a century. Our story began when Herman O. West solved the problem of supplying penicillin in mass quantities to the US Government during World War 2. Through our work to deliver thousands of life-saving and life-enhancing injectable medicines to millions of patients daily, West’s indelible mark on the healthcare industry has just begun. A name started our story. How will yours help write our future?
There’s no better place to join an inclusive community of professionals with opportunities for lifelong learning, growth and development. Supported by benefit programs, we empower the physical, mental, emotional and financial health of our team members and their families.
We believe in giving back to help those in need in the communities where we live and work. And are equally committed to creating a healthier environment and planet through our sustainability efforts.
What We Offer
Job Summary
The Applied Research & Clinical (ARC) team within West is responsible for driving the future of the company by developing innovative products designed to improve patient lives. This role is tasked with conducting big “R” research on behalf of the broader R&D organization and will focus on technological fields that are adjacent and transformative to West’s core products. We are seeking a highly collaborative candidate who is knowledgeable about analytical development and the characterization of small to large molecules using chromatographic analytical technologies such as HPLC, GC, and LC/MS. The successful candidate will interface internally with our scientists and engineers working on drug‑delivery and advanced‑materials programs. The role will also be expected to build external relationships with researchers and biotech companies, helping bring new technologies to the attention of the West R&D leadership. In collaborating across this wide array of stakeholders, the candidate will use the insights gained to design and execute experimental studies. These studies will inform West’s development decisions regarding research and investment in highly disruptive future technologies that may significantly change the way diseases are managed and therapies are delivered in the next 5–15 years. Suitable candidates are expected to bring deep expertise, an understanding of current developments in both research and industry, and the ability to make a significant contribution to the R&D team and the future of West. This is a fixed term position for one year with the possibility of extension.
