Job Summary
In this role, you will create, modify and verify CAM programs, whilst supporting CAD activity, for the manufacture and repair of elastomer & plastic moulds, press-tools and other tooling components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Creation, modification and verification of 3, 4 & 5-axis programs and supporting information, for a range of processes, machine tools and CNC control programming languages
- Preparation, issuing and control of detailed 2D drawings, 3D models and associated production documentation in accordance with global industry standards and expectations
- Utilise and support CNC machine tool network
- Create and control processes in order to accurately convey drawing and production information to all other departments
- Prepare and collate job packs to distribute to other departments
- Record construction information and feedback from production for quality purposes, process development and resolve issues and prevent future occurrences
- Comply with all corporate and local site Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures and regulations
- Interface with and provide technical support to Global Design team and site production staff
- Comply with all machine instructions and ensure proper use of equipment and assets
- Comply with all process work instructions, control plans, maintenance and safety schedules
- Act in accordance with the Company’s Code of Conduct and Guiding Principles
- Report any near miss accidents, incidents or HSE irregularities and prevent future occurrences
- Carry out HSE and Workplace Inspections
- Ensure that your work area(s) are always kept clean and tidy
- Ensure your PPE is used and maintained correctly
- Demonstrate and use a proactive mindset in order to actively develop processes to increase automation and utilization of equipment
- Develop programs to ensure maximum machine efficiency through the use of machine automation
Education
- Required: Formal engineering apprenticeship to NVQ3 level/City and Guilds or equivalent relevant work experience
- Desirable: Higher National Certificate in Engineering Discipline
Work Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Prior manufacturing experience in an industrial setting required
- Experience using SolidWorks required
- Pharmaceutical industry experience is desirable

- Extensive experience of use of measuring equipment
- Extensive experience of interpreting Engineering drawings
- Experience of modern cutting tools and techniques
- Experience in conventional toolroom machinery (mills, lathes, surface grinders)
- Experienced and conversant PC use
- Desirable:
- Experience in CAM programming for CNC Lathes, Grinders, EDM and WEDM
- Experience in CADCAM applications and support applications
- SolidWorks
- EdgeCAM
- AutoCAD
- Vericut
- PDMPro
- Experience in programming, setting & operation of CNC machines
- Incl. Heidenhain, Fanuc & Mazatrol control programming languages
- Experience in elastomer mould, plastic mould and press-tool manufacture
- Experience in conventional toolroom machinery (mills, lathes, surface grinders)
- Knowledge and experience of other toolroom machinery (cylindrical grinders, EDM, WEDM)
- Experience of “Lean Manufacturing” techniques
- Experience in Offline programming & part verification
