Job Summary
In this role, you will maintain and repair all aspects related to Facilities and Equipment at the Bodmin Toolshop. Key skills will be electrical and mechanical knowledge associated with machine tools with sufficient experience to work independently and an aptitude for fault finding and repair. You will also help with the installation of new Investments for the site and support to ensure projects meet expectations. The post holder will also support the Site Managers in meeting safety, quality, cost, customer and service objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Machine tool, maintenance and repair
- Sufficient electrical & mechanical knowledge to understand the basic function of machine tools.
- An Excellent and proven understanding and ability to independently fault find and repair machine tools.
- Liaise with suppliers on service visits and diagnose specialist technical breakdowns in partnership with suppliers.
- Ensure machine maintenance logs are complete and accurate.
- Identify, report and action any foreseeable issues that could cause potential problems or breakdowns.
- Manage and maintain an appropriate level of common spares and parts.
- Work with production efficiently to maximise machine uptime.
- Create and update as necessary safety maps for machine electrical cabinets.
- Read and understand technical circuit drawings with a diagnostic mindset.
- Facility equipment installation, maintenance and repair
- Technical knowledge to diagnose faults and repair, equipment supporting the facility.
- Ensure maintenance records are complete and accurate.
- Identify, report and resolve any foreseeable issues that may affect production.
- Maintain efficiency and improve efficiencies where possible.
- Ensure distribution board markup is current and clear to understand, to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
- New equipment
- Liaise with suppliers as necessary to assist with new machinery & equipment installations.
- Take ownership for the Install of necessary power and air supplies to suit new equipment.
- Contractors
- Responsible for the control of contractors and activities in line with Company Policies and Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations.
- Work with and support of contractors and suppliers as necessary while they are onsite.
- Other duties include
- Deputise for and support the Engineering Manager as appropriate.
- Conduct and facilitate plant and equipment electrical testing to comply with statutory requirements in conjunction with contractors if required
- Be responsible for cost focused activities relating to reduction in energy usage.
- Support Global Tooling Group alignment.
- Comply with the company’s safety policy.
- Comply with the company’s quality policy.
- Demonstrate a proactive mindset.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
- Electrical qualification – 18th Edition
- Mechanical qualification NVQ 3 or above
- Minimum of 5 years experience of industrial electrical installations
- Minimum of 3 years of machine tool fault diagnosis and correction experience
- Minimum of 3 years experience in the repair of mechanical assemblies
- Knowledge and experience of electrical standards and statutory requirements
- Knowledge & Experience of Microsoft Office suite
Work Experience
- Minimum 3 years hands on working experience preferably in a maintenance role within the pharmaceutical/medical devices/manufacturing industry. required
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- CIEH Supervising Safely Level 3 certificate or equivalent
- Formal supervisory training NVQ level 3
- Experience on toolroom machinery (mills, lathes, surfaces grinders) and measuring equipment
