This is an onsite position requiring the team member to be onsite 5 days a week. No relocation is provided for this opportunity. Hours are 7:30AM to 4:00PM.

Job Summary

In this role you will be responsible for all data, database systems, and database processes that are a function of Supply Chain and support operations. Purchase all raw materials to support production schedules and maintain inventory levels as directed by the Planning Supervisor. Maintain all necessary information on computer systems to ensure accuracy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor material requirements on computer system and MRP Report on a weekly basis to determine what raw materials are needed to support the manufacturing schedules in Williamsport facility.
  • Determine which materials need to be ordered, the quantity needed, when they are required and from which supplier they are to be ordered.
  • Place orders with the suppliers on a timely basis via fax or verbally.
  • Confirm all order information and delivery schedules with the suppliers and enter order into computer system.
  • Enter all new orders and any changes onto computer system in a timely basis to ensure system is always current.
  • Responsible for entering new item number information and maintaining current information for the Williamsport Plant Database.
  • Follow-up all open orders, expedite deliveries as required and update system.
  • Communicate with Plant Planner any situations with raw materials that may affect production schedules.
  • Participate in the coordination and tracking of supplier complaints.
  • Write necessary procedures needed to perform duties.
  • Assist and back up Sr. Planning Specialist.
  • May interact with customers and Customer Success as needed to understand and coordinate customer needs.
  • Process customer orders and schedule production.
  • Safeguard corporate confidential information.
  • Purchase raw material as required for other West facilities and sub-contractors.
  • As needed, notify and give priorities to the West Williamsport lab of pending material samples to be tested.
  • Help with answering outside phone calls and calls from the front lobby along with certain other office personnel.
  • Actively participate and comply with all West HSE programs and regulations.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work environment in accordance with West 6S program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Associate degree in a business-related field.

Work Experience

  • Experience: 3-5 years of job-related experience in purchasing and/or planning. 
  • Experience with ERP Systems required
  • Experience in SAP preferred
  • Experience in Production Planning or Purchasing preferred

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be familiar with computers and various software programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint, Master Control, and SAP.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • High level attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of:
    • Standard inventory management practices
    • Standard shipping and export documentation
    • Warehouse operation and management
  • Support and contribute to Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.

Travel Requirements

5%: Up to 13 business days per year

Physical Requirements

Sedentary-Exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
