JOB SUMMARY
In this role, you will provide counseling services to employees. Demonstrate knowledge of key employee relations policies and interpret them and offering pragmatic advice on employee relations matters that enables stakeholders to resolve issues. Support and organize investigations related to hotline complaints. Reporting to the Employee Relations Manager (ERM), you will partner with local HR leaders on key employee relation and compliance initiatives aligned to the broader organizational strategy, and work as a trusted advisor providing support and guidance to leaders of all levels with support of employee relation manager. You will serve as the employee relation subject matter expert in partnership with your employee relation manager. Work closely with your manager to implement a mid/long-term strategy for elevating the employee relation function and capabilities across the organization. This is an office based role
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate maturity, dependability, and integrity through appropriate handling of sensitive and confidential information.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; strong cross-culture communication and sensitivity skills.
  • Follow regulatory and standards, practices and procedures, receive general instruction and supervision, and contribute to employee relations projects and initiatives.
  • Liaise between employees and management; offer employee and managers relations advice on health/wellbeing policies and practices.
  • Support the end to end management of the disciplinary and investigation processes, consisting of: conducting witness interviews, collating investigation findings and producing investigation reports; supporting disciplinary chairs and employees through investigation and disciplinary procedures. on matters relating to (but not limited to):
  • Timesheet irregularities
  • Mandatory risk management tasks
  • General conduct matters (eg timekeeping, behaviour etc.)
  • Data loss/theft
  • Formal performance management and capability matters
  • Under supervision, conduct thorough in person investigations into employee concerns, some involving complex, high risk investigations including but not limited to allegations of harassment, workplace violence, discrimination, retaliation, employee misconduct and provide recommended actions based on findings.
  • Collaborate and follow-up on progress and completion of all corrective actions flowing from internal investigations, including the development and management of an appropriate tracking tool.
  • Serve as a consultative partner and resource to the HR Business Partner on complex employment situations such as hiring, terminations, corrective actions and accommodations.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners to oversee implementation of action plans stemming from investigation trends, compliance opportunities and employee engagement surveys in support of enhancing our overall employee  engagement and value proposition.

 
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree, preferably in human resource management, legal or related field  

 
Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years related experience in a position of responsibility and minimum 5 years of HR employee relations specialized experience required.

  • Familiarity with workplace laws, regulations, employment trends, strong understanding of labor law, collective agreements, unions and works councils.
  • Work effectively under pressure whilst not compromising professional standards.
  • Can work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Objective, approachable and able to interact effectively with all levels of employees both in person and virtually in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Strong communication both written and oral.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive issues and handling sensitive confidential data to meet data privacy compliance requirements.
  • Experience with cases management system to record accurate and timely case updates for management information purposes.
  • Producing high quality documentation including reports, letters, meeting notes, etc.
  • Work with minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to respond internal employee hotline & workflow concerns in partnership with the ERM and local HR leadership.
  • Self-Organization, time management and prioritization.

 
Licenses and Certifications
SHRM-SCP preferred

  • Position operates in a professional office environment. May stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Read and interpret data, information and documents.
  • Must maintain the ability to work well with others in a variety of situations.
  • Must be able to multi-task, work under time constraints, problem solve, and prioritize.
  • Ability to make independent and sound judgments.
  • Observe and interpret situations, analyze and solve problems.

 

 

Physical Requirements


Sedentary: Exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
