HSE Specialist
Department: Health & Safety (HSE)
Job Summary
In this role, activities related to Health and Safety, as well as Environmental Protection, are carried out in accordance with company requirements and operational needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting in the development of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) programs and procedures to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, and to enhance overall safety culture through active engagement with management and employees aimed at reducing unsafe conditions and behaviors.
- Participating in incident investigations to identify root causes and define aligned long-term corrective actions.
- Managing the issuance and tracking of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Conducting risk assessments for work activities.
- Organizing preventive and periodic testing of workplace environmental conditions.
- Coordinating preventive and periodic inspections and testing of work equipment.
- Organizing mandatory preventive and periodic medical examinations for employees.
- Recommending measures to improve working conditions, particularly in high-risk workplaces.
- Monitoring occupational injuries, work-related illnesses, and occupational diseases; participating in root cause analysis and preparing reports with corrective action proposals.
- Preparing and delivering employee training programs on safe and healthy work practices.
- Performing environmental protection duties, including preparation of waste movement documentation, air emission measurements, updating Safety Data Sheets (SDS), conducting employee training, and reporting to relevant authorities in accordance with environmental legislation.
- Ensuring all activities are carried out in compliance with company procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Protection, as well as applicable legal regulations.
- Participating in projects involving new equipment or upgrades to existing equipment as the OHS representative.
- Overseeing the implementation of fire protection measures, coordinating periodic inspections of fire protection equipment and fire alarm systems, and delivering fire safety training to employees.
- Managing and supervising external contractors in the area of Occupational Health and Safety.
- Coordinating and managing waste management processes in accordance with legal and company requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Protection, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related Technical field.
- 3–5 years of professional experience in Occupational Health and Safety roles.
- Passed professional certification exam for performing Occupational Health and Safety duties.
- Certified in Fire Protection.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Advanced written and spoken English skills.
- Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels.
- Strong knowledge of applicable laws and regulations in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Fire Protection, and Environmental Protection.
- Ability to train and motivate employees to effectively implement safety procedures and occupational health standards.
