Job Summary

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring all activities related to supply chain (i.e., all departments and processes involved in the manufacturing of goods such as planning, production, procurement, and inventory management) are completed timely and in a manner that upholds West's standards for Safety, Quality, and Operational Excellence. Creates the master schedule to meet customer orders and sales forecasts in alignment with the network supply plan and manages the execution of the mid-to-long-term production schedule and raw material plan to ensure on time deliveries. Monitors lead time, capacity constraints, and on time delivery KPI's and adjusts to improve performance. Collaborate with other departments to regulate inventory levels throughout the production and supply chain processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Master Planning - maintain mid to long term production schedules
  • Manage raw material plans to facilitate operational requirements
  • Plan new orders in alignment with capacity strategy
  • Support customer escalations and exception planning
  • Collaborate with Operations and other departments to successfully execute production plans and meet shipments
  • Manage customer standard lead time communication to align with current capabilities
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects requiring input from Supply Chain
  • Identify and execute Supply Chain process improvements to drive better results, time management, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Deploy cost savings initiatives throughout the supply chain
  • Analyze material shortages/overages regularly and determine optimal inventory levels
  • Analyze materials that are of high value, critical to the process, have a short shelf life, and action to reduce inventory / obsolescence risk
  • Assist Planning Manager in the deployment of high-level strategies into the production environment
  • Monitors production performance vs. plant objectives providing timely feedback to appropriate personnel
  • Mentor and support Value Stream Operation Schedulers in short term schedule execution
  • Monitor overall customer service performance metrics and adjust planning strategies as required
  • Manage site relationships with external vendors for order management and volume requirements
  • Collaborate with other West facilities for intercompany Supply Chain requirements
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders on schedule changes resulting in optimization or re-schedule actions
  • Serve as backup to Planning Manager for site Supply Chain performance reporting – SIOE / PSOM
  • Other duties as assigned

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or relevant field

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in production planning using advanced MRP system within a manufacturing environment

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of MRP software
  • Advanced understanding of MRP master data (i.e., BOMs, routings, MOQ, lead time)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail oriented with exceptional time management and multi-tasking ability
  • Proven ability to develop reports and analyze data
  • Knowledge of Lean / Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Experience with SAP required
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to process raw data and present as supportive information
  • Comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
  • Comply with the company’s quality policy at all times
  • Comply with the SOPs, as per Company policy, as relevant to the position covered by this Job Description

Travel Requirements

10%: Up to 26 business days per year

Physical Requirements

Sedentary-Exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
