Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Marketing, Elastomers & Primary Containment supports market awareness, demand generation, and commercial enablement for West’s high-value containment and delivery solutions. This role leads execution of go-to-market programs, product positioning, campaign development, and customer-facing messaging to support measurable revenue growth and strategic account expansion across pharmaceutical and biotechnology markets. Working in close partnership with senior marketing and product management leaders, the Senior Manager helps translate customer needs, regulatory considerations, and West’s portfolio and innovation pipeline into compelling, differentiated value propositions, high-impact content, and effective commercialization tools. This role partners cross-functionally with Market & Competitive Intelligence, Product Management, R&D, Technical SMEs, Sales, Technical Customer Service, and Marketing Operations to elevate go-to-market execution and strengthen commercial messaging for a highly technical portfolio. The role also helps shape content and campaigns around how customers increasingly research, self-educate, and evaluate solutions across digital and non-sales touchpoints before engaging with commercial teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support development and lead execution of global marketing initiatives aligned with E&PC Operating Unit strategy, growth objectives, and commercial priorities.
- Lead execution of go-to-market strategies and plans for new and existing products across pharmaceutical and biotechnology segments.
- Develop and refine target segments, customer personas, value propositions, and messaging strategies in partnership with marketing leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Create and maintain portfolio positioning and messaging frameworks that strengthen market differentiation and support commercial objectives.
- Translate complex technical, scientific, and regulatory information into clear, compelling, and customer-relevant messaging and content.
- Ensure consistency of product, portfolio, and brand messaging across campaigns, customer touchpoints, and commercial materials.
- Leverage market research, customer insights, and competitive intelligence to inform positioning, campaign planning, content strategy, and go-to-market execution.
- Monitor market trends, customer requirements, competitive activity, and buying behaviors to recommend adjustments to messaging, campaigns, and commercialization strategies.
- Support and lead cross-functional execution of product launches, including launch planning, messaging development, enablement materials, and launch performance tracking.
- Support lifecycle marketing activities, including growth initiatives, portfolio support, and end-of-life communications.
- Lead integrated demand generation campaign strategy and content development across digital, trade, and customer channels to drive awareness, engagement, and qualified demand.
- Apply modern marketing practices, including AI-enabled tools, digital optimization, and performance analytics, to improve campaign effectiveness and customer engagement.
- Partner with Marketing Operations to track campaign performance, analyze engagement data, and optimize results across channels and content formats.
- Align marketing campaigns and content strategies to sales pipeline objectives, commercial priorities, and key stages of the customer journey.
- Develop sales enablement tools and commercial support materials, including presentations, technical content, case studies, competitive insights, and objection-handling resources.
- Support sales and customer-facing teams with targeted messaging and customer-relevant content that helps prospects research, compare, and validate solutions.
- Partner with Product Management, R&D, Scientific Affairs, Scientific Communications, Regulatory, Quality, Supply Chain, Market & Competitive Intelligence, and commercial teams to align messaging with portfolio priorities and customer needs.
- Build alignment and drive execution across a highly matrixed organization without direct authority.
- Ensure technical accuracy, regulatory alignment, and brand consistency across all external-facing materials.
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize marketing objectives, KPIs, and performance metrics to improve effectiveness, customer engagement, and return on investment.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Science, Engineering or related fields required
- Master's Degree preferred
Work Experience
- Minimum 7 years of progressive marketing experience, experience, preferably within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other highly regulated B2B or technically complex industries.
- Experience executing go-to-market plans for complex or technical product portfolios, including positioning, messaging, launch activation, and commercial support.
- Experience translating technical or engineering-based offerings into clear, differentiated value propositions, customer-facing content, and commercially relevant messaging.
- Experience supporting or leading new product launches, including messaging, content development, sales enablement, and campaign execution.
- Experience developing content and campaigns that align to how customers research, self-educate, and evaluate solutions across digital and non-sales touchpoints.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated success influencing cross-functional marketing initiatives and delivering results in matrixed, global organizations.
- Proven ability to develop and execute integrated marketing programs that support commercial growth, customer engagement, and measurable business outcomes.
- Strong understanding of demand generation, digital campaigns, performance analytics, and marketing effectiveness measurement.
- Hands-on experience using AI-enabled and digital marketing tools to strengthen content development, campaign optimization, customer engagement, and go-to-market effectiveness.
- Strong understanding of how customers research, self-educate, evaluate options, and engage across digital and commercial touchpoints, and how those behaviors influence content, channel, and campaign strategy.
- Experience marketing components, primary packaging, containment systems, drug delivery systems, or other engineered solutions supporting injectable therapeutics.
- Background in life sciences, biomedical engineering, materials science, or other technically complex industries.
- Exposure to global markets, including North America, EMEA, and APAC, and an understanding of regional commercialization approaches.
- Experience supporting strategic accounts, key customer segments, or top-tier pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers.
