Job Summary
This 3 month intership for the Jr Associate, Business Development supports the identification and qualification of new business opportunities within targeted market segments. This role is designed for a recent university graduate seeking to develop foundational skills in B2B technical sales within a regulated healthcare environment.
The individual will assist in market research, prospecting, lead management, and customer engagement activities while learning West’s products, service platforms, and sales processes. Working closely with Business Development, Marketing, and cross-functional teams, the role contributes to expanding West’s customer base and strengthening early-stage pipeline development.
This position provides structured exposure to consultative selling, pharmaceutical market dynamics, and strategic account development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct targeted market research to identify potential customers and emerging trends.
- Support prospecting activities including outreach via email, LinkedIn, and introductory calls.
- Assist in qualifying inbound and outbound leads under guidance from senior team members.
- Maintain accurate lead and opportunity data in CRM systems
- Participate in discovery calls to understand customer needs and development pipelines.
- Prepare background research and briefing documents for customer meetings.
- Support follow-up activities from webinars, conferences, and marketing campaigns.
- Assist in preparing introductory presentations and value propositions.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments.
- Compile research findings into structured summaries for the Business Development team.
- Support analysis of customer segments to identify growth opportunities.
- Assist in analyzing customer and platform data to identify patterns and improvement opportunities.
- Support CRM hygiene, reporting, and pipeline tracking activities.
- Help improve documentation and internal sales processes where applicable.
- Work with Marketing to support campaign execution and follow-up.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Operations, Customer Service) to understand service models.
- Learn and support utilization of ERP (SAP) and service platforms as needed.
- Follow all relevant SOPs, safety policies, and quality requirements.
- Actively participate in product training, regulatory education, and sales process development.
- Demonstrate continuous learning mindset in a regulated environment.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work is performed in an office environment. Able to routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with written and oral skills, make quick decisions, interpret data, read write, speak in front of groups, express exchange ideas, understand direction and adhere to procedures.
- Highly proficient in written and spoken English (other languages appreciated).
- Organizational skills will enable planning, prioritization achievement of goals especially of importance for the successful execution of related activities.
- Read and interpret data, information and documents.
- Must maintain the ability to work well with others in a variety of situations.
- Must be able to multi-task, work under time constraints, problem solve, and prioritize.

Education
Bachelors Degree in Business Development, Marketing or equivalent requied
Work Experience
0-3 years of related professional experience required
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Selling experience and formal sales training preferred
- Negotiation skills are preferred
- Strong research and analytical abilities.
- Interest in B2B technical sales within pharmaceutical or healthcare industries.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Exposure to CRM systems is a plus (not required).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident and professional in customer-facing interactions.
- Strong listening skills and curiosity-driven questioning ability.
- Comfortable initiating outreach to new contacts.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
