Job Summary:

To position itself to meet the requirements of continuing rapid business growth and future market development, West Pharmaceutical Services have developed a transformation strategy of standardization, simplification and centralization of global accounting operations. In accordance with that strategy, we have established a Global Financial Centre of Excellence in Dublin, Ireland. Reporting to, and working closely with, the Director, Controllership, in this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of indirect tax activities for various entities. In addition, you will develop an understanding of our strategic business direction and play a key role in the future development of the function in order to meet the needs of a growing and changing business. This will encompass both organizational development and exploitation of opportunities offered by existing and new information technologies.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage all global indirect tax requirements, including compliance and reporting, which may include research, and liaising with tax advisors, of new global legislations or applicable thresholds
  • Drive best practice for Indirect Tax processes across the group
  • Responsible for Indirect Tax Strategy including assessing compliance processes, considering relevant tools/automation, identifying impact of new indirect taxes (e.g. carbon taxes; plastic tax)
  • Manage indirect tax risk globally, closely monitoring the dynamic landscape and assessing and implementing operational and compliance changes
  • Provide indirect tax support to the business including customer invoice and taxability support, customer and vendor contract review, withholding tax certification, customer exemption certificate advice, and ERP support.
  • Project lead with IT & various stakeholders on maintenance & governance of master data
  • Review and process all indirect tax journal entries prepared by accounting team, as well as, tax balance sheet account reconciliations for applicable accounts and ensure accounts are reconciled timely and reconciling items are resolved timely
  • Manage relationships with outside consultants
  • Drive operational excellence across core activities and provide operational insight, including implementation of process efficiency and technology initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Education: 

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Tax or Accounting
  • Minimum 5+ years of PQE indirect tax experience 

 

Work Experience:

  • Multinational tax experience
  • Effective communicator with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Big 4 experience preferred
  • Experience with tax audits preferred

  • Sedentary- Exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects including the human. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time
