Job Summary
To position itself to meet the requirements of continuing rapid business growth and future market development, West Pharmaceutical Services have developed a transformation strategy of standardization, simplification and centralization of global accounting operations. In accordance with that strategy, we are establishing a Global Financial Centre of Excellence in Dublin, Ireland. Working closely with the Finance Manager/Lead, in this role, the successful candidate will be part of a shared service team driving automation opportunities across the finance function. As a Finance Intern, you will support the team in various financial tasks and projects. You will gain practical experience in accounting controllership function. This internship is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and gain insights into the finance operations of a dynamic company and exploitation of opportunities offered by new information technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- US GAAP Month-End Close: Support the controllership team in executing the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and preparation of supporting schedules to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Statutory Reporting Platform Implementation (Europe Local GAAP/IFRS): Assist with data mapping, template configuration, system testing, and coordination with European finance teams to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of local statutory reporting.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Contribute to the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and analytical reviews to support transparency and data-driven business decisions.
- Audit & Compliance Support: Provide documentation and analytical assistance for internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, Local GAAP/IFRS, and internal control requirements.
- Process Improvement & Documentation: Document accounting processes and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, standardization, automation, and reporting effectiveness within the controllership function.
- Ledger & Financial Operations: Support general ledger maintenance and reconciliations using digital tools and AI-enabled insights to improve accuracy and control.
- Advanced Financial Analysis: Perform in-depth financial analysis using data analytics techniques to generate actionable insights and develop innovative reporting solutions.
- Process Automation & Digital Enablement: Identify and implement automation opportunities leveraging AI and digital technologies to streamline financial operations.
- Project Support: Participate in finance-related projects assigned by management, applying digital strategies and analytical insights.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Leader or Manager.

Education
- Completed a minimum of two years of a Bachelor’s degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Team player, positive and flexible attitude
- Excellent communication skills i.e. ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Power BI knowledge
- The ability to work on their own initiative as part of a hybrid model.
