Job Summary

Part time role: 3 hours a day from Monday to Friday

 

To responsibly carry out the functions of any role trained to do in the production of medical device components whilst demonstrating a proactive learning mindset whilst supporting the Leadership Team.  Carry out a range of  activities to ensure the hygiene of the factory and facilities is maintained to the highest level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The job holder is aware of all relevant procedures as per company policy that apply to the position covered by this job description
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the factory floor up to and around the machines is maintained to the highest level
  • To ensure safety and cleanliness is maintained at the highest level at all times within the non-production areas, such as but not limited to: Offices, Kitchenettes, Changing Areas, Toilet facilities, Car Parks and Stores
  • Carry out and log regular inspections throughout the site to ensure cleanliness standards are maintained and highlight issues using the appropriate reports and documents to the site Engineering Manager
  • Where appropriate and instructed by management, help the production team with the cleaning of production equipment
  • Ensure waste is removed from the site as required, segregated accordingly and disposed of using the correct disposal route to help meet company environmental targets
  • Handle the cleaning and storage of overalls and garments for production team
  • Ensure the vending machines and fridges are stocked and clean
  • Ensure adequate supplies of cleaning materials and equipment are available at the point of use, and submit requisitions for resupply as needed
  • Assist in the preparation and clean-up for company events or meetings
  • Report issues with the site facilities to the Site Engineering Manager
  • Demonstrate a proactive mindset
  • To be available for work at the required times as defined by their shift pattern
  • Where trained, carry out any task as requested by a member of the Extended Leadership Team
  • Comply with all machine instructions and ensure proper use of equipment and assets
  • Comply with all process work instructions, control plans and safety schedules
  • Ensure as far as reasonably practicable that the site is compliant with West’s Environmental policy

Health Safety and Environment

  • Take reasonable care for their own safety, health and welfare and that of any other person, who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions while at work.
  • Work in a safe manner and stay alert, in order to avoid injury to themselves or other employees and avoid damage to the company’s equipment and property.
  • Follow all safety rules and requirements and provide feedback to co-workers working unsafely.
  • SEE-DO-SAY Something: Respond to unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and near misses. Apply mitigation measures, and report to supervisor.
  • Stop Think Act: Discuss problems openly with colleagues and leaders before taking action in a non-routine situation.
  • Use any personal protective equipment or clothing, suitable appliance, equipment or other means for securing his/her safety, health and welfare while at work.
  • They shall not perform a job that for they were not trained to perform and they shall inform their supervisor in this case. 
  • Partner with management on all the provisions taken by West to ensure the safety, health and welfare of its employees.
  • Employees will not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse any appliance, protective clothing, equipment or other means provided.
  • Each employee will attend and follow training required by West.
  • Employees shall not be under the influence of intoxicating substances such as alcohol or drugs and inform their supervisor of a disease, illness or prescribed medication that may add to risk.
  • Ensure as far as reasonably practicable that the site is compliant with West’s Environmental policy

 

Quality

  • The job holder is aware of his/her special responsibility for quality according to the company’s quality policy and conducts his/her activities in accordance with the company quality procedures at all times
  • Comply with company cGMP regulations

Work Experience

  • Competent in written and verbal use of the English language
  • Competent in basic numeracy

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Trained in all aspects of accidental spill controls
  • Full understanding of waste segregation
  • Handyman type DIY skills
  • Training and awareness of using lifting and high level access equipment

Physical Requirements

Medium-Exerting up to 50lb/22kg of force occasionally and/or up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs/4kgs of force constantly to move objects.
