Job Summary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Requires in-depth knowledge and experience within their discipline and general knowledge of related areas of project management.
- Define, drive and manage change management and communications activities that support assigned projects.
- Responsible for adherence to the Project and Portfolio Management processes globally and actively work with the project sponsors and their stakeholders to successfully ensure a consistent delivery for all projects globally.
- Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.
- Ensure functional PMO projects are planned properly, including financials, resourcing, scheduling, and the business case, in support of quality deliverables.
- Work with internal and external team resources to:
- Identify requirements for functional optimization development projects.
- Drive completion of project milestones, as determined by the team, based on timelines and project goals through all stages of the product development lifecycle.
- Actively support project initiatives with customer interactions.
- Ensure technical and customer requirements for projects are achieved.
- Ensure that all required documentation deliverables are satisfied and delivered.
- Development and maintaining project schedules (e.g. Gantt charts, Dashboards) and identifying project critical path(s), risks, etc to communicate status and progress.
- Documenting project meetings and following up on open action items.
- Maintain clear communication paths with management and corporate.
- Drives transparency of project workloads, financial, commitments, and expectations.
- Initiate project change alerts in the case of delays, changes in scope, costs, or deliverables.
- Work closely with partner or customer project managers to ensure all parties are aligned.
- Monitor resource needs and issues, work closely with resource managers to develop action plans to ensure project commitments remain on track.
- Support the development of business cases on assigned projects and track ROI for business initiatives including cost, benefits, and risk.
- Analyze, Forecast and Report the project budget.
- Develop quotations and proposals based on input from commercial and technical specialists.
- Track project costs versus budgets and alert management of potential overruns.
- Actively participate and comply with all West HSE programs and regulations.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work environment in accordance with West 5S program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree In project management, engineering, science, or business required.
- Master's Degree preferred.
Work Experience
- Minimum 8 years Project Management or Operations Management in process-based manufacturing required.
- Proven general leadership and production management experience which includes operational planning and analysis required.
- Experience working with ISO9000, FDA and cGMP required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- General knowledge of OSHA/EPA/safety regulations, manufacturing and process automation.
- Working knowledge of business and shop floor systems to effectively manage operations; prefer SAP and MS Office applications.
- Knowledge of facilities design/maintenance.
- Understanding and experience in use of Lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings, specifications, safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals and regulatory documentation.
- Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and process documents.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Works independently with minimal guidance. May make decisions without checking in with manager.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups and employees in the organization.
- Write monthly progress reports and capital requests.
- Ability to understand mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to problem solve.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see and use hands and finger to operate office equipment (ie phones, computers, copies, etc.).
- Sitting and/or standing for extended periods may occur as well as getting to and from offices and building sites.
- The ability to be able to lift and carry various items up to 40 pounds.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles.
- The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and or equipment.
- The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet. The noise level in the manufacturing work environment is moderate to loud. Hearing protection is required at all times in the manufacturing work environment.
- Job requires mental skill or ability such as communication, decision making (sometimes quick), interpreting data, reading or writing, organization, problem solving, understand direction, supervise and speak publicly, etc.
