Job Summary

In this fully onsite role, the candidate should be accountable for the leadership of tooling department in the plant to fulfill customers' expectations regarding quality, quantity, cost, delivery and performance/service through optimizing use of personnel and machinery, adhering to quality standards, number of reworks and inhibitions (internal and external) , modernization of production processes and their validation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the overall management, planning and guidance to achieve short and long term objectives and outcomes through team efforts.
  • Drive and deliver the effective and efficient operations of tooling department including team’s adherence to company policies and procedures, safety and legal requirements as well as dangers and protective measures.
  • Ensure conservation, maintenance, process control and analysis to achieve optimization of operation equipment and machinery.
  • Release of processes, machines, tools, technical equipment, work instructions , manufacturing regulations, etc.
  • Facilitate with key stakeholders on more complex issues to support tooling team ‘s interface and collaborations with other functions/department or teams.
  • Develop and assess investments of machinery and tools including capex planning of mold replacements to meet mid to long term needs of production and budget.
  • Be accountable for the effective planning and supervision of projects and personnel to optimize internal and external capacities.
  • Develop current and future tooling capabilities of the company by determining and evaluating of development and training progress of team.
  • Coach and enable tooling teams to perform continuous improvement and development of tooling operations to achieve team goals.
  • Be role model of West values and “lean culture” to influence positive behaviors among team members at all levels.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Education

  • Associate’s degree, technical degree, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Tool & Die, Industrial Technology, or a related field required
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field preferred 

Work Experience

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in toolroom, mold maintenance, or tool and die operations required
  • 2 to 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a technical/manufacturing environment required
  • Strong hands-on experience in mold troubleshooting and repair required
  • Experience working in a high-precision manufacturing environment required
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English required
  • Experience with CNC,EDM, grinding, lathe, milling,fitting, and assembly knowledge required
  • Experience with Root cause analysis and corrective action required

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft based programs
  • cGMP knowledge and applications
  • High level of analytical skill and leadership capabilities
  • Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical packaging, or other regulated manufacturing environments
  • CAD/CAM knowledge 
  • Experience with SAP or CMMS systems 
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement training 
  • Experience managing tooling vendors, budgets, or external repair support 
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
     

     

Physical Requirements

Light-Exerting up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force frequently constantly to move objects.
