Job Summary
The SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) Sr. Solution Architect is responsible for partnering with the Digital and Transformation (D&T) & Business teams across global locations to define, deliver, and support IT‑enabled business solutions within the SAP PM module. This role focuses on understanding maintenance business processes, identifying requirements, and designing effective functional solutions aligned with enterprise asset management needs.
The position is accountable for system configuration, solution design, testing, and deployment of SAP PM capabilities. It also includes handling ongoing system maintenance, enhancement requests, and providing production support in accordance with West Digital and Transformation standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
The role ensures that SAP PM solutions are scalable, compliant, and optimized to support preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, work management, asset tracking, and integration with related modules such as MM, QM, MFG, S2P, SD and FI/CO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Collaborate with global Digital & Transformation teams and business stakeholders to understand the overall vision, maintenance strategies, and operational needs, and translate them into detailed SAP PM business requirements.
• Analyze process issues, interpret functional gaps, and recommend best practices or SAP‑standard solutions to optimize maintenance operations.
• Utilize industry and SAP best practices to define the strategic direction for SAP PM and design scalable, compliant, and efficient technical solutions.
• Configure, develop, and deliver SAP PM functionality to meet defined business requirements, including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, calibration, equipment validation, equipment onboarding & disposal and relevant master data objects.
• Serve as an essential member of Agile sprint teams, participating in backlog refinement, user story creation, functional requirement creation, test case and test steps creation, configuration, testing, and delivery of optimal features.
• Deliver functionality based on user stories, ensuring that all acceptance criteria and business expectations are met.
• Support integration of SAP PM with adjacent modules (MM, QM, FI/CO, MFG, SD, S2P) and external systems when applicable.
• Provide day‑to‑day system support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution in alignment with the ERP Services Delivery Model and West policies.
• Perform system maintenance, enhancements, and configuration updates in compliance with regulatory requirements, including Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) and FDA GMP guidelines.
• Create, update, and maintain system lifecycle documentation such as SOPs, SOIs, Job Aids, configuration documents, and validation artifacts as per corporate policies.
• Participate in and adhere to the Change Control process, ensuring all changes follow proper impact assessment, approvals, and release practices.
• Ensure solutions and processes comply with corporate regulations, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and applicable safety rules.
• Support testing cycles (unit testing, integration testing, UAT) and coordinate with business users to ensure successful deployment and hypercare.
• Maintain data quality and master data standards for equipment, functional locations, task lists, BOMs, and maintenance plans.
• Provide user training, knowledge transfer, and documentation to maintenance planners, technicians, and other end users.
• Collaborate with technical teams (ABAP, Integration, Basis) to develop RICEFW objects (reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms, workflows).
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to streamline PM processes using standard SAP capabilities.
• Exhibit reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance and professionalism.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
Education
- Any B Tech Degree (Electrical / Mechanical / Chemical / Computer Science / Electronics / Information systems etc.)
Work Experience
- Minimum 5-8 years of relevant SAP Plant Maintenance / SAP EAM consulting experience from top tier 5 global / Indian consulting firms.
- SAP EAM / Plant Maintenance S/4 HANA System Configuration, Implementation and Roll out experience.
- Good experience in functional design for developing interfaces with SAP & third-party UI systems.
- Working knowledge of DevOps, Management Requirements and JIRA systems.
- Experience in Agile methodology.
- Good oral communication and presentation skills is a must.
- Experience in Pharma Industry is an added advantage.
- Prior industrial experience working as manufacturing / maintenance team member is an added advantage.
- Latest S/4 HANA certification is an added advantage.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
License and Certifications
- Latest SAP Certification in SAP S/4 HANA SAP PM domain is an added advantage but not mandatory.
