Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineering Team has an essential role within West´s Global Engineering team to support the company’s growth by providing state of the art production equipment and continuous improvement of the existing equipment to secure West´s technical leadership role in the market. As a part of this team you will drive our standardization, improvement and implement equipment projects for various rubber processes in our global production facilities. You will work closely with other engineering functions - facility engineering, process engineering, procurement and quality groups.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Become the global project driver within the Equipment Projects Global Engineering group for rubber processes equipment and lead engineering, management, plant operations and global team members while working with vendors to standardize, improve and implement equipment to support the various processes.
  • Drive forward the standardization & harmonization of our production equipment and associated documentation across the global network.
  • Working with Process Engineering analyze and evaluate existing systems and processes, identifying value-added and non-value-added activities to identify required design challenges.
  • Keep up to date on new and future equipment standards and trends in the market and identify value added improvement which may be beneficial.
  • Work independently and with vendors to understand root cause of failures, propose design or component changes, and implement and validate equipment modifications.
  • Take the lead in systematic problem-solving activities where the manufacturing plants need support 
  • Be the point of contact for all projects within our global equipment engineering group by assigning tasks, with clear communication of tasks, actions and monitoring.
  • As the person responsible for defined manufacturing equipment in our global organization, your task is to set standards based on industry best practices to achieve corporate goals for Quality, Overall Efficiency, Cost Reduction and Safety
  • Project Management: Take the lead on equipment project management from the URS issue to PQ by applying current project managements practices including GMP conform documentation.
  • Research and analyze data such a vendor design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to follow equipment related corporate goals
  • Ensure all equipment aligns with the latest Safety Regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering (Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing engineering projects including specification, procurement, installation and qualification

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Master’s degree in Science or Engineering (Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical preferred)
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time

 

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Strong engineering and trouble shooting skills
  • Proven working experience in project management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects in a dynamic environment with minimal direction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English & preferably a 2nd language)
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Outstanding leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to drive change and to think outside the box
  • Working experience with Microsoft office products, PowerBI, SolidWorks and/or other CAD systems.
