Job Summary:

Role holder has  full responsibility for the management of  the warehouse’s, off site storage and the warehouse team. Supervisor is responsible for the ensuring the delivery of  all warehouse activities; (includes, coordination and receipt of all materials required, shipment of all finished product to customers and management of offsite storage. Responsible for ensuring systems and processes are in place to support and enable uninterrupted production. Lean practices and systems are embedded, drive efficiencies and improvement project, enable warehouse to adapt and flex to business needs as required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operation of the sites warehouse’s.
  •  Define and establish the  key activities of the warehouse team to ensure the warehouse is meeting the needs of the business and capable of adapting to changing business needs them as required.
  • Build strong relationships with Production Planners and Material Planners to ensure the warehouse activities enable operations to meet the production schedules.
  • Coordinate and expedite the delivery and flow of materials and supplies into the site and between the warehouse and operations that are essential for the production process.
  • Work with Planners, Quality and Operations to ensure OTIF is achieved for  customers’  orders. Ensuring site shipments comply with  West policy and procedural requirements.
  • Build strong relationship with our logistic partners, to meet on time delivery performance, ensuring all transportation meets quality requirements
  •  Working hand in hand to meet site requirements  with offsite warehouse provider.
  • Accurate record keeping to be maintained for all goods shipped or received.
  • Take physical inventories and conduct cycle counts of stock items as defined.
  • Order warehouse materials and supplies based on established stock levels.
  • Compile statistics and reports regarding usage, stock levels, on time delivery rates etc.
  • Manage the  warehouse team, ensure clear roles and responsibilities and robust training plans for all roles.
  • Ensure effective performance management of the team with a  clear focus on deliverables.
  • Hold 1:1’s and  regular team meetings and embed strong communication within the team across all shifts.
  • Provide a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with all internal and external customers while accomplishing work and achieving required quality standards.
  • Responsible for safety,  maintenance and cleanliness standards in the warehouse areas
  • Implement 6S procedures in the warehouse
  • Continuously improve core processes e.g. material movements, labelling, FEFO process, Goods receipts
  • Act in accordance with the company’s Guiding Principles and adherence to the corporate Code of Conduct.
  • Compliance to all local site Environmental, Health and Safety regulations
  • Compliance to all local site company policies, procedures, and corporate policies.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Studies, or similar discipline.
  • APICS qualification
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience Shop Floor Systems to effectively manage plant operations is required (including ERP and MRPII systems.
  • Experience with SAP required


Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 5+ years in Warehousing/Purchasing / Planning /inventory level management preferably in a (pharmaceutical industry);
  • Good Experience using Lean Manufacturing principles. Excellent coordinating and organizational skills
  • Must be able to perform well under pressure
  • Must be a team player with ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and follow-up on requests
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, analyse collected information and reach a definitive conclusion or solution
  • Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, coupled with involvement with multiple functions across the business.
  • Strong sense of urgency and flexibility
