Job Summary:

In this role, you will be accountable for developing and executing a strategy and plan to deploy Automation assets within West’s Containment business unit across a Global Platform.  Strategic planning, Execution modeling (including resources, budget, and scope) to ensure that West’s business commitments are achieved and that there is a clear transition between the developing teams and the Manufacturing Operations sites. Close coordination with the Commercial team and Quality team is necessary to ensure that customer Notification is established, standards are achieved, and a clear timeline of Operations startup is aligned.


This role focuses on two key imperatives: Detailed Planning & Execution of installation and scaleup of Automation Assets and Coordination / Communication of the benefits and transition timelines to Commercial and our Customer Network.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee key activities and projects/programs Globally within Operations
  • Develop the overall Strategy for Automation Deployment in conjunction with the development & Operations team.  The strategy for deployment requires cross functional efforts to link Commercial through Execution.
  • Deploy strategy revisions and life-cycle management of the strategic direction changes with the market and demand changes that may arise, while maintaining the overall plan to execute against our commitments in the Strategic Plan
  • Establish project plans, utilize existing tools and develop a best-in-class approach to execution planning and deployment of Assets. 
  • Maintain close collaboration with Operations sites, adjacent departments such as HR on hiring needs, skill set needs of employees in terms of hiring targets and training needs
  • Maintain close collaboration with equipment vendors and engineering to establish a clear spare parts and maintenance plan
  • Manage cross functionally & globally major initiatives, projects & programs as needed.
  • Support and enable the use of OPMO tools within West.
  • Foster & encourage shared learnings across projects/ programs.
  • Institute and ensure implementation of training programs to ensure personnel are proficient in performance of assigned duties.
  • Must have experience in high volume, highly regulated manufacturing operations, ideally in the medical, packaging or technological industry sectors.
  • Working in partnership with design development and/or other outside vendors, manage the assessment of product design from a design for manufacturing standpoint.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Engineering, Business, etc.) is required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Project Management
  • Professional Project Management Certification (PMP) preferred
  • Experience establishing Project and Resource plans, using Microsoft Project
  • Program Management Experience & Management within a Matrix Organization
  • Manufacturing Experience, and understanding of the business processes: Inventory, Production Planning, Manufacturing, Shipping


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Master’s degree or pursuant Preferred
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Applications, including Power BI, Excel minimum
  • Highly proficient in SAP, understanding of data inputs
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.


Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
